Question:
Any plastic surgeons who specialize with weight loss patients?

I live in Michigan and have found ONE plastic surgeon who has training with patients who have lost alot of weight. Most others claim to specialize in all areas, which makes my eyebrow quirk up into my hair. I'm willing to travel and just need help in findin a proper surgeon. I've tried internet searches until my eyes crossed and if anyone has any ideas for me I would be sincerely greatful! Elizabeth lap rny 12-13-02 268/162    — E M. (posted on July 24, 2003)

Find a high volume bariatric surgeon and you will find plastics to go with it. My surgeon is one of theose and theres the supporting doctors to go with them. If your willing to travel to pittsburgh theres some great plastic surgeons who give a discount for WLS patients.

I totally agree with Bob. There are several plastic surgeons in Dallas that work closely with the top weight loss surgery surgeons. The only problem I can tell you is that, just like the WLS docs, the PS docs have a long weight list to even get in for a consult. Probably not all of them, but I know the ones associated with my Dr. do.

Check out the University of Iowa Hospital. Go to Belt Lipectomy and there will be a sight on U of I. They are supposed to be the best in the midwest for treating patients who have had bariatric surgery. Good Luck. I am at the same stage as you.

I went to Dr. Jon Rast in Kansas City. He had worked with other bariatric patients. I had a breast reduction, abdominoplasty, brachioplasty and lip on the knee area. I reall, really like him. Several other ladies from our support group meeting have also gone to him now.

Yes, Robert Rehnke, MD in St. Petersburg, FL cares for many post-WLS patients. He did all my PS work and is awesome. Diane N
