Question:
I feel like I have a knot in my thigh, could this be a blood clot?

It started 2 days ago and doesn't bother me unless I am up walking and seems to come and go a bit. I am hoping in a muscle thing but can't really pin it down to anything. I had an open RNY 10 days ago so my only exercise is walking. I haven't been doing lots of it because I get stress fractures in my ankles from walking (2 in the last 4 years--last one took almost a year to heal). I do get up and move around the house, just not long walks outside. It did bother me a little during the night too. Could this be a blood clot? There is no redness or tempure change in that leg. My thighs are too fat to tell if there is any swelling (but I don't think there is).    — Kathy J. (posted on July 5, 2003)

I NEVER TYPE IN ALL CAPS. I AM GOING TO THIS TIME. GET THY BUTT TO THE ER STAT! IT SOUNDS EXACTLY LIKE MY MOM'S CALF BACK IN 1996. SHE HAD A BLOOD CLOT MOVE FROM THERE INTO HER LUNGS. SHE MAY HAVE DIED. THANKFULLY SHE DID'NT BUT SHE IS NOW ON OXYGEN FULL TIME AND HAS A LUNG DESEASE CALLED PULMONARY HYPERTENTION BECAUSE OF A DAMNED OLE BLOOD CLOT. (SHE'S A NON SMOKER TOO). AM I SCARING YOU? GOD I HOPE SO. PLEASE, I BEG YOU, GO TO AN ER NOW. JUST IN CASE IT IS. IF YOU HAVE A CLOT IT CAN GO TO THE HEART, LUNGS OR BRAIN. IF YOU DON'T HAVE A CLOT, THEN NO HARM DONE. IF YOU DO, IT MAY VERY WELL SAVE YOUR LIFE. PLEASE DO IT NOW. (And emai me to let me know how it turned outp- thanks).

Original poster here--I did go the ER and NO BLOOD CLOT! They think it's just a muscle thing. Thanks for all the concern!

GREAT! Better safe than sorry. I hear the blood clot percentage is low, but those can die. Its better to get checked so your safe.

Kathy, I'm glad for you! Thanks for going. I don't know you, of course, but I still worried about you. Glad it was'nt one, and I'm very happy you went to the ER to make sure. If it had been one, you may have been in deep trouble or worse. :)
