Question:
The skin on my inner upper thighs is hanging and getting longer every day.

06/14 03:31 AM CDT It is my own fault for walking so much and going to Curves. Remember that old special K advertising campaign about "can you pinch an inch?". Well I can pinch a whole handful. I still have 200 lbs to lose so I am nowhere near ready for plastic surgery. My legs have always rubbed together but I have never had this hanging skin situation before. I don't care about how ugly it is. I do care that I may not be able to wear pants much longer if this continues. It looks so unnatural and strange. I suppose I should just go find some super strong girdle and stop fretting about it. Has anyone found a way to trim this area? I am open to ideas. Anyone in the Dallas area know where I can find a girdle in size 7X (huge rear here)? I did put a post to the message board but just realized it is the middle of the night and no one may see it. I am so in need of information. I can be reached at [email protected] Please put wls or amos in the subject line.    — Ann B. (posted on June 14, 2003)

Honey, there is help out there! LOL!! And you have to go no further than your own mind! Keep walking. Keep losing. Keep doing whatever you have to to keep moving! That skin will tighten up eventually. No, not all of it will go away, most likely. But quite a bit of it will, in time. I've lost over 210 lbs now, and I was in your situation eight months ago. Over the past eight months, my "Sharpe Puppy" skin is shrinking up, tightening up, and I'm beginning to look like I did when I was in my early 20's! I still have about fifty more lbs to lose... skin-wise... and the only way to do that is to exercise or have surgery. So, find that dang girdle SOMEWHERE and keep on your diet and weight loss regime... it'll all come off in the wash! lol!! You should see me run... My arms flap, my tummy flaps! It's disgusting! BUT... there isn't near as much there as there was last week! :~) Get that super strong girdle and stop fretting! Eventually, you will get comfortable in your skin again (I keep telling myself that, too! lol). Hugs!

Ann, welcome to the saggy sisterhood. My legs are horrible. I didn't realize how bad they were until I was working out one day, lying upside down on this leg machine thingy, and though, "wow my legs look fabulous". Then I stood up and all that skin went sliding right back down. Good grief, what a sight. Well my solution isn't a girdle - it's bike pants. Those lycra pants that come down to right above my knees. Those puppies hold everything in and, as long as I wear something to cover them, I like to think Betty Grable ain't got nothin on me - heh heh heh. No, they really help. I'm not sure where I got these - they were hand me downs - but with all the plus size websites out there, I'm sure you can find some. Just look for either bike shorts or exercise shorts. Just make sure they come down to the knee or you'll have little blobs below the bottom of the pants - been there, done that. Good luck.

The Junonia catalog sells dual layer shorts, which are bike shorts covered with regular shorts. www.junonia.com They have a lot of plus size active wear. Another good site is www.justmysize.com
