Question:
Can anyone recommend a protein supllement for someone who is lactose intolerant?

My doctor's pre-op sheet recommends S-F Carnation instant breakfast. I'm looking for higher protein without lactose or a disgusting taste. Any suggestions?    — Joyce S. (posted on March 25, 2003)

There are a number of soy protein supplements that you can get at the healthfood store. If you have Trader Joe's in NJ they have a couple of really good ones that are also a really good value. I agree about the Carnation IB, it is pretty useless unless you add more protein to it. I think it has 4 gr of protein and for the volume that you have to drink that is pretty bad. Good Luck!

go to vitalady.com, she has lots, and they do not contain lactose. Try to find a whey protien that you like, we absorb it better. But if you can't then do soy. By the way, even though whey is from a milk product, it does not have the milk sugar (Lactose) so you will not have the lactose intolerance reaction. DGood Luck!! I did not find a protien drink I could tolerate until I was almost a year out, so don't give up!

I like Isopure bottled protein drinks. They are fruit-flavored. Grape Frost is my favorite. Can be found online and at GNC.

I love this one my brother in law introduced me to (he use to be a physical trainer) it is called PRO COMPLEX and you can find in at GNC or cheeper on Vitaminsblvd.com. I mix it with 4oz of water and it isn't thick. Shaken is better than stirred but it has 55 grams of protein per 8oz. its good stuff I have two of them a day one in the morning and one at night.

Real Meals has no milk products and can be mixed with water or milk. It also has 60 grams of protein plus 40 other vitamins including the calcium, biotin, and vitamin b12. There are also several lactose free recipes on their site to use with it. Go to www.protein-solution.com
