Has anyone taken Imitrex as a post-op?

I started taking it in the hospital the day after surgery for uncontrollable headaches. I did fine with it. I haven't had to take it anymore since I was released from the hospital. Haven't had a migraine since. Don't know if it is a coincidence or what, but I am not complaining.

Yes,I get migraines and was assured that I could take my Imitrex after surgery. I have indeed taken them and have done fine. I take it with milk so that my stomach isn't empty. I have taken up to 3 in one day and had no problems. Always ask your doctor. They now what's best for each individual.Good Luck.

Unforunately, I've had to take my Imitrex several times since my surgery in April. It works well for me wth no complications and actually, I find that some medications seem to work faster since I had the surgery.

i had a migraine in the hospital the day after my wls (anesthesia induced?) and my surgeon gave me a shot of imitrex in my iv...it was like heaven!!!! The pain was gone within minutes, well, the pain from my migraine...didn't do squat for my belly...but I had the morphine pump for that one :o) I used to suffer from migraines when I was MO, usually 1-2 a month that would knock me on mu tush for a few days...now, I get maybe one every other month...could it have been my diet of crap food??? Maybe...or the hypertension??? Probably both. Now when I get one they are much less severe and usually when I have let myself get run down...good luck!! Have a Sparkling New Year!! ~CAE~
