Question:
HDL cholesterol low......why??

Hi. I am one month out and down 26lbs. I just had my labs done, and while my total cholesterol is much better (153) and my triglycerides and LDL are OK, my HDL has dropped from an *OK* 45 to now 35 !! Why might this be? Also, my fasting blood sugar is slightly high at 110, even though I have never had issues with this before. I talk to my doctor soon, but just wondered if anyone else had this happen or knows what might have caused it? (Yes, Idid fast for 12 hours prior to my test) Thanks so much for any feedback!    — Katie E. (posted on December 20, 2002)

My PCP says to raise good cholestrol gets lots of exercise. How about you?

Kathie, I've got the same problem. Vegetables also help raise "good' cholesterol. You are probably eating few vegies now than before (probably fewer of everything). Give it some time and then try to eat more low carb (green) vegatables. This, plus exercise should help.
