Question:
Is it okay to drink fresh squeezed lemonade?

hello, my sister and myself were talking tonight and i told her how i made my selfsome lemonade with a fresh lemon and water and she told me that i should not have lemons because of the acid that it will ruin my stomach, is this correct? also i am afraid that i am eating too much. the other night i had a whole smart one dinner that was 9 oz-- granted it took me a while to eat it and when i finished i was angry with myself for eating it, am i going to strech my stomach and ruin it? thank you in advance. (ps i had my surgery 6-12)    — jessica B. (posted on August 7, 2002)

I loved lemonade after surgery and I almost lived on tomato juice. My doc said that as long as I drank plenty of water too. Now I hardly ever crave tomato juice ....must have been something about the surgery. (open RNY - 5 1/2 months, -92lbs)

Jessica...I cant drink lemonaide..it all depends on your own system. I cant handle anything really acidic...I was drinking crystal lite lemonaide and had some really intense burning pains in my pouch. I also had some trouble with H Pylori bacteria prior to my surgery...that bacteria sometimes leads to ulcers...so my tummy might be extra sensitive because of that...I'd suggest having a small glass and see how it goes.

I can see no reason you can't have lemonade as long as you don't sweeten it with sugar. I noticed the post about tomato juice; I lived on V8 Juice when I was on liquids. I still drink it quite a bit and my surgeon said I could count it as part of my daily liquids. Open RNY - 11/29/01 -128 pounds

If the lemonade is'nt hurting you, then you are fine. I love fresh squezed too. And I can't get enough tomatoes now days. So the acid is'nt hurting. As far as eating the 9 oz Smart One dinners... I ate some of them, and Healthy Choice as a new post op. I could only eat half of one at a time. Now I can usually eat one. But you are around 2 months post op and it certainly seems like alot now???
