HI JESSICA,well i am just about not quite 5 months post op and only just started feeling ok about 1 month ago . i am not saying it will take you that long but i was just a slow healer.i would just tell your job that you might need some more time to heal .hey if you can take some more time you need to do that for yourself this was a pretty major surgery we had so don't worry about it. i have read that most people really did not start feeling like themselves until about 6 months.well good luck and god bless you.from kim

I am almost 6 weeks post-op and I went back to work after 3 weeks off. I had Lap surgery and I found that once I went back to work my energy levels picked up. I agree with the others.....the quicker you get back into the game...the better you may feel. You have to listen to your body, but going back to work really helped me a lot. Good Luck.

Hi Jessica, I am going to be the odd man out here but I don't agree with going back sooner than you are ready. If you feel you are not ready then maybe your body is telling you something. I had an open RNY May 9 and I stayed out 8 weeks. I am an RN of a very busy floor and I work 12 plus hours a day. There was not way I could have handled that at 4 weeks. I was still feeling awful then. My doctor wanted me out 8 weeks and even questioned me at 8 weeks if I wanted to be out longer! You had MAJOR surgery! Listen to your body. I went back to work yesterday, worked 13 hours and you know what?? It was VERY hard! You may feel fine at home but home is NOT working. Please take care and do whats right for you. God Bless, feel free to e mail me if you'd like.
