Dr wants me to use CPAP @ lower # post-op but I know this will drive me nuts. Ideas?

I've only been using my CPAP machine for two months, but I feel like it's saved my life! They started me off at 5, but at anything less than 9 I was clawing the mask off my face feeling like I was suffocating. Now I set it at 10 or 11 and sleep SOOOO well. :-)

My surgeon wants me to bring it to the hospital and says we'll set it at a lower number, like 4 or 5, to keep from stretching out my tender new stomach. OK, I don't want to hurt my pouch either, but I'm worried about how I'll tolerate the lower number... I haven't been able to stand it in "real life" so far. Will I be too drugged up to notice? That suffocating feeling is powerful and I am pretty sensitive to breathing issues after a lifetime of asthma.
