Can't stop losing weight
I am getting kind of scared because my surgery seems to have worked too well. I am now 16 pounds below goal, and I really don't want to lose more. I can't go to the Dr. right now due to lack of insurance. I know - what a wonderful problem to have, but I'm getting scared. I am eating like no tomorrow and have even resorted to those foods I should not eat in order to try and gain a few pounds. Also breaking some rules, such as eating when I drink so that I can eat a bit more at meals, but I have no success. Most of the posts I see on here are concerns about regaining weight. This, too, was my concern, but being over 2 years out, this should not be the problem. Anyone else out there with my problem? Please? Tell me what you do to maintain your weight without losing.
There are some out there who have trouble maintaining up where they want to be. It's a matter of increasing your calories and exercise. If I don't get enough calories, I drop weight too. So it's like my surgeon told me "eat more." but that's not all that helpful if you don't know how much you're eating. You need to add more calories...What a nice problem! I can't get any sympathy either so I can relate.
In the accountability thread you can remind me that you're trying to gain weight and post what you eat there and see where you can increase.
Good luck to you!

Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

I had this same problem and can relate to the axiety that eating to stop weight loss creates. You understand there may come a day when you don't have this "problem" and don't want bad habits to create weight gain. Here is what I did:
1) Stop eating LIGHT and FREE foods. Switch to whole milk, full fat yogurt, etc. For me this added about 500 calories a day. The bonus is that you can return to the light and free foods later without affecting volume.
2) When you have to eat more foods, add something like a fourth meal or get a McFlurry, ice cream cone, etc. The thinking here is that this is something you can stop entirely. Mentally it is different to have a smaller lunch than not getting your daily Krispy Kreme.
3) Excercise a little less. Strange I know but Cardio burns calories so if you burn 400 extra calories that's just 400 more you need to eat. Don't stop entirely but maybe go from 4 times a week to one or two.
For me this "problem" worked itself out over a 6 to 9 month period and I just ended up sliding into an equilibrium.

I too was worried about too much weight loss after I hit goal. So far the weight loss has stopped for the most part. I agree that if you add some good healthy foods back into you eating habits, it should stop. Every once in a while I will have so Blue Bell ice cream. I am 2 lbs below and would like to loss another 7 lbs to get to 125. But if I stay where I am that is fine as well. Good luck on getting on with your journey.
Yes. Many of us drop too low. Just remember that wh3en you're done, providing you are well, of course, you automatically get back 10-20 lbs. So, if you put these 16 back on and THEN get 16 more--will that work for you?
As long as you're protein and other vites/nutrition levels are perfect and I don't mean "fine", you will eventually settle in. I personally think it's a big bad booboo to try to gain. That's going to happen, sooner or later. The automatic bounce back, then later comes the "I got away with it before, so I can keep doign this (fill in bad thing)"
I had my auto-regain, then 3 "stupids" which resulted in regains. It's way too easy to regain. I've also been under 3 times. I never try to correct that, because --- IT IS COMING BAC****rtainly have enough proof. As long as my labs and overall health meet my very picky standards, I'll just wait for the auto-regain.
