Five Year Anniversary
Yesterday marked five years since I had my sleeve done. I have to say that this surgery was the best thing that I could have done for myself. Although it is not a magic cure, it did make my new life possible. Yes, I track my food, and try to hit the gym at least four days a week, as well as add fun activities to keep me moving and burning calories. There are no shortcuts in life, but there are things that can help us along the way. This surgery has helped me reach and maintain my weight goal. I still weigh myself everyday to keep on track.
I don't know what I can say to you all that you haven't heard already. I rarely post, just when OH reminds me of my anniversary date, but if you have questions, I will be more than happy to try to answer them. But know this, I am truly happy with my choice and results!
I can tell you that this surgery will work for you as long as you are honest with yourself. You cannot believe that you will be able to eat like you did before the surgery while lying in front of the TV catching up on your favorite shows. If you fall into this category, you will fail. However, if you are aware that you will have to follow your eating plan and add exercise to your life FOR LIFE, you will succeed. Many of us have done it and you can too. But you will not succeed long term if you don't make the changes necessary for LIFE.
You WILL be able to eat more later on, so develop good habits from day 1. You WILL feel hunger or desire to eat again, so work on your demons while the surgery is still doing the majority of the work for you. You WILL falter and fall off the wagon from time to time because you are human. As long as you get back on that wagon right away, all will be fine.
Good luck and success to all have decided on the journey! You will not regret it!
