I am 12 weeks post op, everything has gone so smoothly untill this morning...I woke up with a huge pain in my stomache and the pain exponentially gets worse when I take a drink. I Accidently swallowed gum yesterday and believe the two are correlated. Called my surgeons office and they said to drink more to try to flush and it will work itself out...but it hurts so bad...worse than the first days post op.

Has anyone else experienced this post op vsg? If so, what was the outcome? How long did it take to feel better?

Any insight would be helpful.

Thanks!

I have swallowed my gum a couple (few?) times since VSG.    Pre-op, I ALWAYS swallowed it.   Such a habit!   Now, when I do chew gum, I try to be super vigilant about it and dispose of it properly.
No problems when I did swallow it, though.    Good luck!
