Large Fundus
I had VSG done 2yrs ago. Ever since I had surgery , I've been able to eat more than what people said they could after VSG. I've also felt hungry, not as much but I did and still get hungry. I lost about 70 lbs and have gained about 17lbs . I had an Upper GI and an endoscopy and everything said it was normal but that there was a "large amount of fundus present". Does anybody know what this means. Since I had surgery in Mexico, Doctors here don't want to really see me.
I sometimes wonder if this means my surgery wasn't done right?
Help, anybody had something similar happen?

The fundus is the so called strecthy part of the lower stomach..
It could mean he left that part a little larger.
I am still hungry , but can still eat so much less than before.
You have to work you tool..hungry or not.. I drink extra water when I am hungry, but it really isn't time to eat.. Do I wish I was never hungry...NO at first whenI was having this surgery that is waht I wanted..but I see some that feel no hunger and have to force themselves to eat. I am happy to feel some hunger like I normally would , but yet I have the restriction so I don't overeat.

You can see that the fundus is the very upper part of the stomach. It is the stretchiest part of the stomach. It can greatly expand to accommodate extra intake of food. Most sleeve surgeons cut most of the fundus away and use the body of the stomach as the main part of the sleeve. Where the surgeon cuts near the pyloric area and how close along the lesser curvature determines the size of the sleeve.
Only a surgeon familiar with VSG will be able to tell you if you have a well constructed sleeve or not. The fact that you have a lot of fundus left is certainly suspicious.

I would recommend that you post this on the Mexico forum as well if you haven't already. There's several of your surgeon's patients *****port the same exact issue of having larger sleeves and large portions of the fundus not being fully dissected. The last post I read on here, Dr. Almanza has "resleeved" a few patients because it was not performed correctly from the initial surgery.

An x-ray and a consultation with a local bariatric surgeon who has done a lot of sleeves seems like a good plan. I remember when talking with my surgeon that he said some surgeons leave too much tissue at the top and/or bottom of the stomach so that the stomach is more of a barbell shape instead of a banana. That allows for larger portions as there is more stretchy tissue.
There are a handful of surgeons that are recommended against due to very improper sleeve techniques and complications.. Unfortunately Almanza is one of them. There have been a few that opted to go back for revisions, but whatever you do- please don't go back to your original surgeon.. Aceves does revisions, Alvarez may and I do believe Ungson does as well. I would say based on your description, you likely did not get a good sleeve to start. This does not mean you cannot be successful, just that the tool you paid for was not the same one you received. It may be harder, but you can do it! If you really are struggling, please do consider emailing one of the Drs listed and at least see what they say the options are, it would be helpful if you can get copies of your upper GI and send those to them to see. Good luck!

Please let me know what you find out. My surgery is already said and done but I'm just curious how things go for you and what you end up finding out.
