I am looking at a few Doctors in Mexico as I am a self payer and I see alot of people had Dr Aceves and seem to like him, so as a former patient of his what are your thoughts on him as a surgeon and your thoughts on the hospital ? By what I read on his OH profile he seem great, but I like to hear more, even if its not all positve. I want to do as much research as possible.

Thanks~Melissa

I went to him... twice. He did my band and my revision to a sleeve. I love him, I think his staff are fantastic, the hospital is beautiful, I have no complaints. If you want his US coordinator's name and phone PM me and I'll give it to you. She's sleeved as well.

The band got me to goal, the sleeve will keep me there.

I was very pleased with my experience. My blog, www.vsggoodlife.com has full details of my experience - there is also a post on my OH blog.

Good luck with your research!

Hi Melissa!

I too have researched and am a self payer.
I had two doctors in mind and either would have been fine with me.

Dr Aceves to me seemed to be the best in Mexico and works out of the Almater Hospital (not a clinic) which was a plus for me. I have spoken to Monica and she's wonderful. Has answered all my questions about the proceedure and has given me the info I need for after care.

I'm going in on the 30th of August and can't wait to have the whole surgery over and done with.

Good luck with your decision. Shouldn't be too difficult after reading all the testimonials :)

Lina,

(Sorry for the quick hijack here, OP!)

I just wanted to get you in touch with someone else who is having surgery on the same day and a few others who will be there at the same time as you.  (I'm scheduled for this Friday, so I will likely miss you unless you come up to Dr. Aceves' wing in the hospital after your pre-op because I will be on my way back to the airport when you are coming in for surgery.)

Check out this post on the VST forum.  There is 1 girl who has the same date as you (her handle is shrinkinggrl), 3 others that are scheduled for Sat and then 2 of us who are scheduled for Friday:

Maybe I'll get a chance to meet you.   Hope you can come join our thread on VST!

Dr. Aceves and his staff were very kind and caring. Honestly, I felt really well cared for when I was there. I really felt confident that he was going to do a great job and he did! I suffer from extreme anxiety and my trusting him says alot. The hospital was VERY clean. Plus, I just loved listening to all the spanish around me. I love languages! I have wonderful restriction now. You can't go wrong with him. Best wishes on your journey!
