Peroneal Nerve Damage after weight loss
I am very curious to know if anyone has gotten Peroneal Nerve Damage after weight loss.
I started with foot drop and then it has proceeded to basically paralyze my ankle. When I did my research one of the items that brings it on is rapid weight loss, its from crossing your legs and the nerve gets pinched.
I was able to start crossing my legs A LOT and I did because it felt good! lol. I asked my doctor if he had experienced this with his patients? and he said "No"
I am no being treated for this problem by a neurosurgeon. I am awaiting my EMG results. The treatment is physical therapy or surgery. I am not sure which direction were going, depends on how bad the damage is. What I do know is that Neurologist said it was bad.
My advice if you do have this or notice your foot slapping down when you walk, get it checked out IMMEDIATELY, the longer you wait the more damage will occur.

I also have had the nerve damage. I had surgery at laser spine institute 2 mths ago for pinched nerves and it is not getting much better. My legs are weak and I fall if I don't have something to hold onto. I have been reading about vitamin deficiency and am wondering about vitamin b. They say if your deficiant it could cause nerve damage. I am still looking into it. I had my surgery 10 yrs and 2 mths ago.

I just had surgery to repair my compressed nerve due to rapid wt loss has yours resolved I'm so scared
All the research that I have read show that the extra fat protected the nerve and when there is rapid weight loss apparently it somewhat exposes it. Thats the research that I have seen. The neurosurgeon has told me that also.
I would think that you would have seen this too, so this is interesting to me to know that you havent see this due to rapid weight loss. Thanks for your response, I appreciate it!
