Stalls Happen

Hi to everyone here that doesnt know me I am Noel, my surgiversary is 7/31 and I will be 2 years out on that date. I was so discouraged for so long , I thought my body didnt want to lose anymore.I was stalled for 9 months!!! I have been stuck at a weight that I had been for most of my life....around 250ish and where i couldnt deny losing 130lbs was a great and wonderous thing...it was hard to not continue to lose. I was a heavyweight with my VSG....371 is a lot of unhealthy woman...but for me i knew that this was the only wls i would opt for. I have tried so many different ways of eating to try to get it going....but i think it was just my body trying to stablize after such a dramatic loss and it was going to do it on its own time. I kind of slacked for awhile....not eating enough protein and not taking enough vitamins. Going back to basics ...high protein....vities....and fluids seems to be what has done the trick. I cannot fool myself by thinking I can eat fast food even without the bun, but then I have to eat and regularly. Being hungry or not being hungry...I had to continue to eat.
My tool is forever....and I love it. I love the control of having a 5 oz stomach. I cannot binge out and stuff my face for more than a few bites and that is a beautiful thing!! Its such a natural feeling now to have control over my eating. Its weird to me to watch some of my gfs eat, in fact it makes me kind of grossed out to watch them eat. I would of course never tell them that because I love them but its not that they are eating...its just the volume they consume that makes me queazy. My VSG has become such a part of me that I truly do not miss eating quantity.

I guess I just wanted to share my new loss ( since june 2nd I have lost 16lbs!!) and let those of you who are stalled know your tool has not forsaken you...your body is just taking a break is all and if you use this time to evaluate your eating and continue to have a good routine with your food...it will start coming off again. Stalls happen....especially for heavyweights....but the VSG will be there for you all of your life....its up to you to use it, and love it ,and honor your body .

Have a great day
Luv Noel

Thank you for this post.  Very encouraging to know that even at 2 years out you can pick up and use that tool, you're very motivating and congratulations!

TY Marci....the way i look at it ....it didnt take me a little bit of time to gain the weight so its not gonna come right off when i snap my fingers....its going to take a bit longer than expected but ok...atleast i havent gained the weight back...none of it. 2 years out and not gained other than the typical yoyo of 5lbs which is my monthly average up down...I am hoping that it will be more like 3lbs up down for now on...one can only hope!!

Hi Noel.  My surgiversary will be next tuesday.  I'll be one year out.  I have been in a stall for the last three months.  I must admit that I've added in some carbs and sweets but I'm just like you in that I cannot eat too much of anything which is a gift.  I appreciate hearing that you have broken a stall after a long time because I was beginning to think I couldn't lose any more.  I[m about 15 pounds away from my goal.  Thanks for your pep talk it really has helped me.  I really need to get back with the nutrition counselor at my bariatric surgeon's office and make myself accountable to him and get the remainder of this weight off.  Thanks again - "Cheryl

Hi SunnySoul, thanks so much for your report from the stall front...I have had a few small ones since my surgery, but in the last 3 weeks I have not budged, and it's been disheartening.  So your posting came just at the right time for me, it has reminded me of how common these frustrations are and that I am not alone in my concern. Thank you and keep up the good work! You are inspiring to me.

Hi Noel,

You might as well be writing the novel for my life with this WLS and for Celtic too. We, with higher BMI's at starting, just need a little more love, a little more self motivation and a little more time. Whatever that "little more" turns out to be is personal.

I just want you to know I love your attitude about your personal journey. Thanks for sharing and being an example of how to carry on.

Hugs, B

Ah Noel, you're my heroine. :)

I thought your ticker showed a loss, but I wasn't sure.  16 pounds is absolutely fabulous. :) :)  You've inspire me to hunker down and try again.  Who knows ,maybe I can lose another 10 or 20. :)

Lap-Band removed after 7 years and converted to Sleeve Gastrectomy on July 7, 2008 by Dr. Roslin.  I've had three happy healthy Lap-Band babies.... and one VSG baby.  5 years out from revision to VSG.  Gained 55 pounds in past 5 months, now considering DS. :(
