Regain
Hello,
I had my RNY in 2009. I of course lost the weight but have had alot of depression, anxiety issues. I was also diagnosed with lupus, fibromyalgia, and now osteoporosis. So I have had about 90 pound regain. So my bariatric doc has put me back on the liver reduction diet with only 3 meals a day no snacks. The no drinking soda which I have mastered within the last week YAYYY me. But the problem for me is that I need some suggestions on meals without the noodles, potatoes, corn, bread. Some easy meals that I can prepare to take to work with me. I have a sit down job at a call center and have a very bad habit of snacking all day and not eating meals. I have been off work for the last 2 weeks from having eye surgery so tomorrow is my first day back and my anxiety is kicking into overdrive. I have taken myself off all my anxiety and depression meds because they had me walking, talking and acting like a zombie and gaining weight like it was going out of style. I have joined the gym and for 2 months straight every morning at 4:30 till 5:30 I was there walking on treadmill and also doing weight training. Then it just halted to a stop with ear and eye surgery and just motivation went bye bye. Please anyone have any time to help a fellow RNY'er out I would definitely appreciate it. Any constructive criticism is also welcomed. Someone needs to fuel the fire. Thank you in advance.
Hi Tonya,
Life will always try and take the lead- you've gotta jump in front of it. Sounds like your ready to now- master the habits fast because life will throw you another curve ball.
Are you tracking food intake? How many calories are you eating? How much protein are you getting? Re: the exercise- every day was ambitious-- but do you think it was sustainable? Focus on exercise that you can do for the long haul. It may only be two times a week- but its better then nothing. (And be easy in yourself-you had surgery!)
I'd encourage reading the daily RNY menu thread for ideas on meals- you'll get plenty.

Thank you for the reply. No i have not been tracking food intake, tracking calories etc. I guess i will download app to help with that today. I am going to start back at the gym tomorrow. I think 2 or 3 times a week will be the max a this point. I want to do more but like you say not sustainable at this point. I will take you advice and be a little easier on myself but i have to be held more accountable for my actions to this point. Thanks again and have a great night. Another question? Havent been on for a long time. How do you update the tracker at the end of your posts. My weight needs to be updated.
I make what I always made and just skip the starches. A pot roast will have onions, garlic, celery, and carrots. I might have a bowl of taco meat with all the fixings and no taco. Beef chili, meatballs with sauce and no pasta, chicken soup with no rice or noodles, stuffed pepper with no rice, etc. etc.
Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
Don't worry about the exercise. It didn't cause the regain. The food did.
Stop grazing. Eat by the clock. No in between. Weigh and log your portions in MyFitnessPal. Every bite.
Try to do meat only for meals for a while. You'll kick the carb cravings easiest that way, and you'll get back on track.
Also, make sure you get caught up on labs for all vitamins and minerals. If you get back on track, get all the way back.

I had my RNY 4 months before you. I have been here on OH for support pretty much the whole time. It keeps my head in the game.
In addition to tracking your food, get a fitness tracker. Work on becoming more active. I focus on getting 10,000 steps a day. I do not do any formal exercise other than walking. I know this keeps my heart healthy.
Good luck. You can do this!!
