Medications not working???

I am 8 weeks out. YAH!!!!. Glad I made the decision to have surgery but for the past two weeks I am not sure what has been wrong with me emotionally. I was diagnosed with bi-polar/depression/anxiety about 10 years ago and put on medications since then. Things have been good with the medication. Now after my surgery and six weeks later, I am having episodes where I just feel so emotional and feel like crying (balling). I have to put my head up towards the sky to try to keep tears from falling. If I hear/see something sad, for instance news stories, etc., I will want to cry and I am not usually like that. In the mornings also I feel pissed off too for things that I would normally not be pissed off about (not after meds for so long). I have a very dysfunctional relationship with my immediate family members (i.e., sister and mother) we have not spoken for about a year. But I never felt this way about it and don't correlate these feelings towards them as to why I am being this way. I will be going to my check up with my doctor to see about these medications, but wondered if anyone else has/had experienced this after surgery? HELP !!!

it could be " hormone dumping". Hormones are stored on fat and as we burn stored fat for energy, those hormones are released into the bloodstream and can cause this. It is normal and should pass. It can also make us"mean" temporarily.

Do you know or have you heard of how long this last? Should I be taking some estrogen pills or something?

it is different for each of us and can happen to men who lose weight also. It can be several weeks or several months, but resolved on its own, no need to add more hormones into the mix.

I'm sorry to read that you are experiencing this. In the material I received from my surgeon's center, it did say that episodes of or worsening depression does affect a percentage of people after this surgery. As I recall, the advice was just to consult with your doc. I suspect, as others have said, that your hormones may be giving you grief. Your description of just being so desperately sad that you just weep is what I was like throughout my life on a monthly basis, several hours before my period began. It was misery! It did help a bit to realize what time of month it was. Hang in there, talk with your doc, you might need a dosage adjustment. It will get better.

Hormone dumping is getting too much estrogen in your system. That is easily combatted with a natural progesterone cream from Amazon or a health store. Use it on your forearm each night 21 days a month and take a week off it during your period.

Thank you for recommending this product to me. I bought it and have used it for the past 3 days and I don't know if this is a miracle cream that can work that fast or I'm imagining it but I have felt better and today is the best morning so far after weeks of being so emotional. Can't thank you enough.

I wish all women knew about progesterone cream and what a difference it can make in their lives.

It helps with cramps, depression, water weight gain, breast swelling, reduced libido, hot flashes and feelings of general well-being. All caused by too much estrogen in the body and in our food.

Progesterone also aids in weight loss.

Remember to stop the treatment for one week each month if you still have periods. Even if you don't have periods anymore, it is OK to do three weeks of treatment and one week off.

Please keep in touch and let me know how you are doing.
