Saw my surgeon last night
I'm on a new medication, not zofran, but something different. I'm to have a ton of labs today, and to have an EGD. They're looking into machanical issues and non-machanical issues. Machanical being blockage (not believed to be), and strictures. Non machanical being things like my body just fighting the RNY. I asked what happens if it's that, and he said that we learn to live with nausea or other options. I got the impression I wouldn't like the "other options". He wouldn't go further into that. I came home and forced myself to eat and gagged on it the rest of the night. It seriously takes me like 7 or 8 hours to feel human after I eat. To me that sounds like my pouch isn't emptying at normal rates. I started my new med this morning. Said to give it 3 days, if I don't feel better to call them. Will hear when I go to the egd lab today. Going for my labs in a few minutes.

Good luck Teri. Hopefully the new meds will work for you and its just something as simple as that.
Hopefully the EGD is soon and you can get some answers.
Not crazy about him telling you to learn to live with nausea...WTH? What kind of answer is that?
Keeping my fingers crossed that the new meds are the answer for you!!

I'm with you... and truth is, I'm kindda freaked about taking the new med, when I googled it today. It's similar to tricyclic antidepressants, and has some nausea side benefits. Tricyclics make me seriously depressed. I nearly commited suicide on them years ago. So I'm scared to even try it. Then I continue reading.... side effects, increase appetite, and weight gain. UM I don't need that. I am kindda depressed with what's going on right now. So What more is it going to do?

I can't assist with anything but sending good thoughts your way.
Definitely give the new meds a chance & don't worry about the side effects at this point - you may not experience any of them.
If you're not better after the 3 days, see what the options are. You may want to get a second opinion.

I had a nausea issue for 5 years before my RNY (adhesions attached to my stomach and folded it in half - surgery not to successful and didn't relieve nausea and slow stomach emptying).
I was hoping the nausea might be better after the RNY, but not so much. My first year was difficult and I was nauseated every day. I know how difficult it is to get your protein, calories, water and supplements in when you are nauseated. I did take Compazine almost every day.
I also learned that I dump (accidently - didn't try to see if I dump). I have learned to limit the foods that I eat and ones that especially upset my pouch. I don't eat much meat and very little processed food. I have to have a liquid breakfast - so I have a protein hot latte every morning. Noon is my best time for whole food - I eat protein that doesn't upset my pouch, fresh veggies and fresh fruit.
I can't snack in the morning - just too full. It is enough work to get my fluids in. Lunch really fills me up so I usually don't snack in the afternoon either.
I eat pretty much the same thing every day - boring - but it works for me.
Evening is my worst time for nausea. I eat protein powder in greek yogurt and a sliced fuji apple. I often have an evening snack to get my calories up to 1100 per day. I have protein ice cream, 1/2 protein bar, 2T peanut butter, etc.
I do use papaya enzyme, simethecone, Devrom and some essential oils that I rub on my tummy to help with nausea.
I have learned to live with nausea and the restrictions of eating a limited diet. I do get in 100gm protein a day, 120+ oz fluid, and all my vitamins and minerals.
I wish you the best. Oh, I also take Cymbalta for depresson for at least 7 years now. Feel free to PM me if you want any more specific info.
