Middle of the night hunger
For some reason, I get a hunger spell during the night. I'm still on soft foods, so usually I take 2 or 3 bites of low fat cottage cheese, or my home made crab meat salad.
Anyone else deal with middle of the night hunger or eating? It makes me so angry with myself!!!
Some people say it's a no-no, but some say as long as you budget it into your dy's plan of eating, it's ok.
Any input??
Thanks,
CC

Thanks for commenting, at least I'm not alone. Sometimes, I think I'm one of those people who snack at night without knowing. I have really fought hard to stop old habits, but sometimes they lurk back in.
My crab meat salad is very basic. I put the crab meat in my Ninja blender to chop it small and mix in Miracle Whip light, plus salt and pepper to taste. I love it--formerly I loved it on crackers and tortilla chips, but being only 2 weeks post op, I'm enjoying it alone.
I've got food on my mind...having trouble sleeping!!!

I am 7 months out and I've lost 127 pounds in a little under a year. I never use to be a middle of the night snacker but I find, due to my limited caloric intake and large caloric deficit thanks to lots of exercise, that I'm hungry in the middle of the night. Like this morning at 4am. The thing is not to beat myself about it. As long as I write everything down that I put in my mouth and I am well within my caloric budget then it's ok. Yesterday I had 799 calories and a deficit of -1856 calories. What is frustrating though is here I am exercising like crazy but some days i'll loose like a snail or even gain some water weight. Grrr.
My surgeon tells us to eat 5-6 times a day and one of those mini-meals has to be within 1 hour of bedtime to help prevent being starving at night or in the morning. (We aren't allowed protein shakes past 8 weeks out because he and the nuts say real food keeps you satisfied longer.)
Maybe adding a meal before bed would help you?
