It's when you eat something that gets stuck causing you to have extra saliva. You feel like it needs to come up and sometimes it does and sometimes you have to wait it out.

Foamies are aweful.

It's when your wretching and wretching and after several you feel this slime come up and it is foam which is your throw up no color just foam.

Awful awful, but you feel so good afterwards. (smile)

When you get food stuck (either from not chewing well enough or from eating something that's too dry) -- your body reacts by trying to slide the food through your pouch with extra lubrication. That lubrication is saliva.  But since the food is stuck, the saliva can't go down -- and it ends up pooling in your mouth instead. So just grab a tissue and spit (as lady-like as possible).

Sometimes when you vomit from stuck-food, you won't actually get the food but just a bunch of saliva that's all foamie looking.

Also -- Don't be afraid of vomiting after WLS though -- it's usually a welcome relief and makes you feel better instantly... and because we no longer have gastric acid in our pouch, food comes back up almost exactly like it went down, not gross or yucky at all.

Just did this for the first time yesterday. I didn't know that's what it's called.  But, ya'll have described it exactly. I felt horrible for nearly an hour after eating 2 ounces of tuna. Then finally threw it up and instantly felt better. And, yeah, no acid. I expected all the burning you would normally have and the raw feeling in the throat but, it's wasn't there. Very thankful for that. Of course, I was on my way to my dr at the time and it was pouring rain! So, there I was on the side of the highway bent in pain... My whole back side was drenched; front dry...

That just happened to me last night... the foamies. The only thing is I was drinking a bottled water. And I felt it would'nt go down. Horrible feeling. Thought I was gonna choke. The water or foam whatever it was that was stuck. Just sat in the middle of my throat. Until I spit it up. After that I felt much better. I thought maybe I was drinking to fast. Has that ever happened to anyone else with the water?
