The 30/30 Rule? (ETA: Found yesterday's thread too!)
Can someone explain to me what the 30/30 Rule is really about? My NUT simply told us to not drink anything for 30 minutes before or 30 minutes after eating. She really didn't explain why - I just assumed it was so the food would stay in the pouch longer and not be washed away.
Am I wrong? Can anyone shed some light for me?
Thanks!

The hunger comes back...and sooner than you think so yes, do get into the habit now.

There was a post about this yesterday. Essentially there is nothing keeping food in our pouches. If we drink too soon after eating it causes food to exit the pouch limiting the amount of time you feel satisfied from eating. Eating after drinking...I don't get why we can't do that...liquid essentially goes straight through our pouches. I usually wait a few minutes just because my mind doesn't go into food mode right away...but I don't see the point in waiting 30 minutes after you eat to drink.

WooOOOoooOOOoooOOO!!! I like your nickname. Can you tell?
Anyway...this is one rule I don't really follow because, like you, I still don't get hungry. I think I'm the exception to the rule, my nutritionist said I'd start getting my appetite back after about six months. Here I am nearly 10 months out and I still don't have it. I ain't complainin', believe me! I don't drink a LOT with meals, but I do sip milk or water while I eat. I think one other reason for not doing it is because liquid takes up room in our little pouches that should be taken up with protein. I figure if I'm drinking milk, it's all good.
If I find that I start getting hungry as a result of this practice, then I'll stop. Until then, I'm gonna enjoy my sips with my meals!
Good luck!

We have a hole where our pyloric valve should be. Therefore food passes easily out of our new smaller stomach straight into the small intestine, bypassing the duodenum and pyloris.
Exactly as have been said. Try to keep from drinking as long as you can after eating. It will wash through and you will soon feel hungry again.
