Help me, I am constipated. I have to go, I really do. there is something blocking, and I cannot get it out. it hurts, and it is making me sick. I sit and push, push, push. stuff comes out around whatever is stuck, and it is nasty green !!  I have placed a call to my surgeon. I am waiting for a call back.

Help me, I am so miserable, and I just want to poop!!!  My rear is so sore!  Dawn

Try a dose of mineral oil...it doesn't have any taste and usually helps within a few hours. To stave off future problems, increase your fiber intake either through food (if you can), fiber supplementation like Metamucil, or fiber caplets like FiberCon.  ~Suz

Dawn, BOY I feel for you because I was constipated so bad that I cried, then I started taking Fiber Choice Chewables (2 per day) and I have been regular ever since.  Before you start the Fiber Choice, take two Ducolac pills to clean yourself out.  You can buy them over the counter.  Then take the Fiber Choice every single day and you will be fine. Plus it got my weight loss going again. Hugs, Esther

Oh and the Ducolacs pills and the Fiber Choice was approved by my surgeon. I wouldn't do anything without my doctors ok.

Have you tried a glycerin suppository? Even a pediatric sized one just to help get what is right there out. Then, some prevention. If you haven't had the issue before, then probably just upping your fiber daily (to between 20 and 35 grams per day) will help...either with diet or supplements. If it's been a chronic problem, addition to upping the fiber daily, try taking 2 Colace daily as well. Since you have a call in to your surgeon, definitely ask him what his recommendation is, and follow that. I feel for you, I really do. BTDT way too many times. :(

Take a warm bath until your doctor calls you back, try and relax.  I hope everything comes out ok.

Surgeon called - had to run out with my kids and buy an enema. I have the ultimate question asker, so was a bit embarrassing, but I did not care, I just wanted to get home and use the darn thing. Why is it that when you are in a hurry, or in pain, you get in the line behind the little old lady that scrutinizes everything ?? after standing behind her, doubled over in pain, I screamed is there anyone who can cash me out so I can get the hell outta here ??  Again, in pain, so did not care. She looked at me and said can I drive you somewhere, are you ok to drive? I just said, I am in pain, and need to get out of here, can you please move it along?  Needless to say, I am back home, and problem solved, for the time being. Thanks for your input everyone!!  Dawn

All of the posters here gave great advice.  But nobody said the obvious - WATER.  Increasing your water intake - no matter how much you're getting now - will help DRAMATICALLY.  All the fiber in the world won't help if you're not getting sufficien****er.  And if your doc says to get 64 oz per day, get 80 oz.  Whatever you're getting isn't quite enough to keep things moving, so up it a bit more.
