Just had my Revision
Hello all! I am a returning OH member and hope everyone gets the end results they were looking for. In 2007 I have my RNY (lap of course). Ten months after, I weighed in at 197lbs and was feeling great. We then got pregnant. Yes I know......
After our final daughter was born I steadily and almost systematically began to gain weight. On May 15th I weighed 227lbs. This is the night before my rebirth. I have an amazing surgeon - Dr. Jawad. He resized my pouch and inserted the pericardial patch. I feel like a new RNY patient. I can feel my pouch working again. It is truly incredible.
I am hoping that whatever procedure you chose with end in the same results. Good luck to all.

Congrats! I had my original RNY in 2001 - and my revision 4/28/2011 - In less then 1 month I am down 24lbs.......I know that is quite a bit, but the weight loss seems soooo slooowwww.......I guess I want it NOW LOL.....But truly cannot complain 24 lbs in 3 1/2 weeks....40-50lbs to go...I hope I make it!
It is comforting to know that my pouch is working again. And sort of weird...because the past 5 yrs or so I have been able eat like a "normal" person. I am learning all over again...making smart choices, which I feel I did not do the 1st time. I am determined to succeed forever with this 2nd chance I have been blessed with. I hope you do too!
This is only a tool I keep reminding myself that. I need to be accountable for my choices!
My original RNY - had a "mechanical failure" my surgeon said he never saw anything like it. Plus I had LOTS of scar tissue and a hernia repair. Honestly, after the revision I feel like a new person. I have been having lots of issues the past 2 yrs......so it is a relief to feel good again!
Bless you and wishing you much success on your 2nd time around! PS: What is that patch?

I originally had the lap RNY in 2007 and weighed 350. In one year I got down to 197 - got pregnant and had our third daughter. Since then I was weighed in at 227 on 5/15/11. The next day I had my revision with the pericardial patch. And yes my surgeon did have to recut my existing pouch since I had stretched it immensely.
