I'm going to Cuba in January and I'm betting it will be a lot different than when I went last winter.  I was soooo sick.  I have also had to buy a couple of new sizes of bathing suits since then.  Last trip I was so happy to be able to fit the plane so well.........this time I will have room to spare!

Have fun on your trip!

Nancy: which resort are you going to? We are looking at possibly going to cuba in february but we are looking for a good 5 star resort. You have cuba experience so tell me where you go!

i looked at the paradisus princessa i think it was called or the paradisus veradero ( i forget which one i liked) but they looked good

congrats on your weight loss btw you look fantastic... you could fit 2 of you in that plane seat now! LOL

Hi again Wendy

We are going to Oasis Brisas del Caribe in Varadero.  The total cost for 2 of us is $1,686.48  all inclusive and including cancellation insurance.  I was looking at another one called Sirenis la Salina Varadero Beach Resort but it is a little more pricey.  They even have a water slide! I booked it through Nolitours.  (I have never paid for cancellation insurance before but I read in the paper that they are quarantining anyone who looks sick, in the hospital, for the length of their trip because of H1N1.  This way I can cancel if either of us get sick.  I really don't want to spend my Cuba time in their hospital!  lol)

If you prefer a more hotel looking resort, check out the Blau Varadero.  It was next to the place we stayed at this year and it is fairly new.  We went inside and it looks really nice.  It is open from the lobby to the top of the hotel and all of the rooms overlook the lobby.  It's really cool.

This year we stayed at Aguas Azules Cameleon  The price was good but if I were to go there again, I wouldn't stay in the hotel part.  They other smaller buildings have 4 rooms each, they are closer to the beach and have a nice living room/bedroom/bathroom.  We met a couple while we were there and they were watching out for us as they knew I was not feeling well.  We always manage to meet the nicest people when we are away.  I think when they see it is just my daughter and I, they are like mother hens.  lol  It is so nice though.    I have never checked out the more expensive hotels as my funds just don’t allow it. I use my “quit smoking" money to pay for it so I only have so much to spend and we like to souvenir shop and take an excursion or two as well.   I am looking forward to the plane trip for a change.  I use to hate that I couldn't even use the little tray as my belly was in the way.  I was also very close to needing a seatbelt extender which I would have been mortified if I had to ask for one.  I use to dread the flight but no more!  Hey!  Maybe I can share a seat with my daughter and only pay for one!  Lol

I hope you find a good deal.  The beach there is so beautiful and the water is so clear.  Sigh.....on a rainy day like this, I want to be there right now!
