left side pain

Hey guys!  I'm almost 5 months out of surgery, but every now and then I will get a sharp left side pain right at the bottom of my rib cage. Sometimes it is triggered by turning my torso, pants that hit a certain spot, or completely out of nowhere. The pain normally comes in quick single sharp pains that will go on and off one at a time for less than 30min. They are not bad enough to stop me from doing anything, but sharp enough for me to stop and hold my side for a second. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, what the heck is going on???

is that where your port is?  I know some people still have discomfort around their ports for quite some time after surgery.

I originally thought it was your port, as that is where mine is. It seems too high to be an ovary, so I am just not sure. There really isn't anything there that should hurt. The only other thing that I can come up with is gas..... I hope it gets better and that someone has a better idea than I do. Good luck!

thanks!  I think I'm just worried that it's something to do with the actual band.

Well its good that it isn't your port.  I think its to low and far left to be your band.  I believe the band is just below the senter of your ribs.  Maybe a muscel strain?  I hope it feels better.  If it continues it would probably be a good idea to talk to you PCP or surgeon to make sure.

Yeah, i guess that's right. I have to remember that the band and port are stitched to muscle and internal pain can radiate to other areas. I think I'm more worried that something may go wrong and I'd lose my band. Just paranoid and looking for and paying attention to any little thing that could be wrong.

I would get left side pain if I was constipated... and I was constipated all the time while banded. Are you having any issues?   The stomach is situated more on the left side of the body, so it could be something to do with it.

Hello,

I also get some left side pain once in awhile.  Not super bad but bad enough to worry me sometimes.  My port is on that side but it doesn't seen to be pain that starts at my port; it is lower than that.  It does end up affecting my port though.  After paying a little attention to it, I realized that it must be gas and/or constipation.  I take a few gax x pills and ice the affected area and usually in a couple days the port pain is gone.   Another thing is that you could have pulled a muscle exercising too.  Mine often hurts after a lot of exercise as well.  Hope this is somewhat helpful.

I get that left side pain once in awhile also.  I'm not so sure it didn't have to do with my gall bladder.  I know my gall bladder is on the right side as I just had my removed but it seemed to "deflect" the pain to my left sometimes.
