Hey! Of course you can join us! We usually meet in MD or VA, at someone's house or a restaurant. The next meeting is April 25 in VA (I forget where). There was a post about it the other day. Jillybean has the details if you want to PM her. Looking forward to meeting you!

No, you don't heat it but you probably could. I think it would be yummy warm and cheesy.
Where do you get brown rice tortillas?

Jill, these were soooo good! This weekend I will be recreating the MADS lunch, making Shani's pasta and your cheesecakes.

Topic: RE: Taco Dip Recipe
Here is another recipe from our MADS lunch. It's so easy and very tasty and DS friendly (minus the Tostito's Scoops lol)
1 package taco seasoning mix
16 oz can refried beans
8oz package cream cheese (whipped works great)
16oz container sour cream
24oz jar salsa
2 cups cheddar
2 cups colby jack
Mix 1/2 of taco seasoning into refried beans. Spread beans into bottom of 9x13 pan. Mix remaining taco seasoning, cream cheese, and sour cream. Layer on top of beans. Add layer of salsa and finish with layer of cheeses.
This is the basic recipe, but you can layer fresh lettuce, tomatoes, olives, etc. Enjoy!

Topic: RE: getting guff about higher fat foods
Is your friend named Karen? Because I just had this convo with a co-worker of mine last week. She had the RNY.
I was explaining to another co-worker that I, as a DSer, don't absorb all of the fat I eat, only like 20%, so most fatty foods are like diet foods for me. That's why I get bacon and cheese eggs every morning.
Well, Karen butts in and says that I will have to watch that because eventually I will start absorbing all of the fat again. I told her WRONG, I know my malabsorbtion will lessen, but it will never be completely gone. Then she tells me that my surgery is too new for them to know for sure.
I asked her where she got her info. She had no answer. She never even heard of the DS before I told her about it and now she's an expert.
YOU know how you surgery works and that's what's important. Keep enjoying your Baconators!!

Hey Kerry - I too think it could be that you're not eating enough. For a man, I don't believe 1300 calories would be enough even if you were absorbing everything. Maybe you should try to eat more (protein and fat of course)?

Topic: RE: OT - First Time Homebuyer Tax Credit
This one DOES have to be repaid, over 15 years. It will increase your tax liability by $500 each year if you get the whole $7500 credit. So it's more like an interest-free loan than an actual credit.

Topic: RE: OT - First Time Homebuyer Tax Credit
Just passing along this info... If you purchased a home between April 2008 and July 2009, you may qualify for the First Time Homebuyer Tax Credit of up to $7500.
