How, why does Krispy Kreme break a stall?

Or is this an inside joke I have not caught on to yet?  I've seen a few vague references to this topic, but searching the archives is not helping me tonight.  Any Krispy Kreme or will my own personal devil (chocolate iced, creme filled) do?

Kentucky Fried Chicken is another stall buster idea. Anything that will trigger loose stools. It must be the combo of fat and carbs, if you want to put yourself and your family through that.
VitaLady's recommendation for busting stalls is increase your protein shakes, eliminate carbs, and increase plain unadulterated fluids.

And I think for it to be an honest to goodness stall - you have to have not lost any weight for about 6 weeks.  If I am wrong, someone please correct me!  Otherwise your body is just adjusting to your rapid weight loss.  You are quite early out, have you taken your measurements?  While you may not be losing as rapidly as you were, you are probably losing inches...

I tried Krispy Kremes to break a stall once and all I got was HORRIBLE gas!!!  Like, kill me...I don't even want to be around myself kind of gas.  YUCK!  This works for some people, but I absolutely would not attemp this method until 6 months out, or further from surgery.  Two weeks isn't a stall, two weeks is your body freaking a little...that's all.  You've been through a lot.  Big surgery, losing weight, new intestines, your body is just trying to figure out what the heck has happened to it.  Be patient with your body.  Hide your scale.  Weigh again next month and I'm certain your "stall" will not be an issue.

Ditto to Lori's response. I would consider a small bite of something like that, but never the whole thing. I'd be on the pot the whole day. You are right on time to chill with the weight loss. It will pick back up in a few weeks. I was about a month out when I quit losing for a few weeks and yes I freaked, but you are only beginning. My weight loss picked up about 2 weeks ago. STAY OFF YOUR SCALE. It is an evil nasty little ***** Keep eating and drinking and protein and supp's. Things will happen. You don't lose all your weight overnight. It will happen. Trust me and trust your body and your surgery. All the best to you!

Some think it has most to do with the fat content in these little gems.  Some hypothesize that it's the sugar and ultra carb content that just kicks your low-carbing body in the ass to get it to wake up and start metabolizing again.  Whichever it is, I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth.

During my first year when I would stall, having two donuts would send me to the bathroom within a couple of hours and squeeze me clean.  Nothing uncontrollable or anything, but it just made me go.  I don't even get gas from them.

After that my body would kick back into gear.  I first heard about this on a yahoo group of DSers many, many years ago and brought the wisdom here.

You're not really stalled.  Read why:
http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.html

I really don't think someone only 5-6 weeks out is going to need to resort to eating a donut to start losing weight again.  I think all it's going to get you is a night in the bathroom and probably some uncomfortable gas.

Honestly, I never used any of those high-carb "stall-busters."  The weight always starts to come off again if I waited long enough and kept my diet in check.

Grammo, you are. not. stalled. This is totally normal and you need to chill out about it. Just keep following your program and you will be FINE.

I agree with the previous posters that they contain fat and cause gas....   but I have a different theory.

When I was in my weight-loss window I kept my calories around 1200-1400 a day (had to force in that many calories at first) but since most of my calories were from protein / fat it still was malabsorbed.

Every week or so my weight loss would slow down -- my body was in "starvation mode" and refusing to lose any  more.

A good day of pizza, donuts, chinese buffet.... whatever I was craving then would always jump start it.

I don't think it was the fat since I always ate tons of fat (sausages, bacon, etc) and had oil slicks....but still my weight loss would slow down.  I think it was a metabolism thing..... my body realizing we weren't starving.

Just my opinon!  Plus it's easier to stick to low carb if you know every 10 days you get a treat!

Yep, I'm with you on this one (although I think the extra fat helps)--kicking your body out of near starvation mode certainly helps with slow-downs.
