So you are telling me, that my pouch is not a permanent solution?!?
GASP...
Did anyone read the new article that is on the front cover of OH? About the future of WLS. I find it interesting, that a Dr. Finally point out that a pouch will stretch and 30% of people will gain weight back, and need another surgery after RNY. They are also Coming out with a Macho ROSE procedure (Called Titus or something like that). Saavy? C'mon, isn't this what have been telling people FOREVER! Maybe they will listen now?

Things that make you go hmmmm!!!! What do you think our dietician will say about this one? Think she'll tell us that OUR "pouches" will stretch too? I'm still not over this BS that we malabsorb only 30%!!! Bah...

GASP is exactly my reaction, too! Did you read the whole article? It sounds like the excited mutterings of the owner of a candy store after a bus full of chubby rich kids just pulled up out front.

How the heck does this qualify as content that is supposed to be "ObesityHelp" ??? I don't get it. This belongs in the Journal of Understanding Just How Desperate Fat People Are and How to Use this Information to Line Your Pockets!
He actually says that the goals of these new procedures are to find better techniques to address EWL, which is cool. Unless you are the one paying and going under the knife of this marketeer! Sheesh, the sheer gall of some people!
The only reason I'm glad the article is here on OH is maybe some idiot considering paying to be one of his guinea pigs will have 2nd thoughts.

LMAO! I totally agree. I also do not understand how "fixing" a dud surgery is the wave of the future?! Does that make any sense? It's like, alright! 30% of you will fail, and now we have something else to fix ya! And now that didn't work, and now we have something even better! (Titus Rose) C'mon give me a break. How many times are you really going to rip people off, and freaking mess with there insides before you tear them up so much, that they are no longer functional. We only get one set of intestines! If you eff them up, you are screwed!
"... industry is trying to develop new procedures for this growing market of potential patients. The market for a patient with a body mass index between 30 and 35 is even larger. If a non-invasive or very minimally invasive effective procedure for obesity can be developed the potential will be endless ..."
He actually wrote that and allowed it to be posted on the internet, on a site that is supposed to be centered around helping people overcome obesity related health issues. That, in my opinion, makes him an ass. If I lived in NY I'd have to consider going to one of his free phishing expeditions, I mean seminars, to call him out on his expert opinion about the endless marketing potential among the growing market of potential patients ...
I can just see the silly little RNY-wannabes flocking to him cause he's been on TV.
Some people get what they deserve.
D2K, who is not in a very generous mood after reading that article

My aunt Denise was just diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, and in her research she saw that. I said, "you're kidding right?" I told her that her best chances of curing it is with the DS. She is overweight, but not an extremely large woman. I said the exact same thing. If a lap band can slip off of your stomach, how well will a liner stay in places as objects pass through it? Hmmm...
No kidding, the job of the intestines is to squeeze, squeeze, squeeze - peristalsis is one of the coolest and most consistent actions of the human body. Are they going to sew this liner in or what? I am now curious to research it because it sounds so friggin' impossible.
I hope your aunt looks into DS if she goes for a surgical option. Diabetes is awful. My mom had well-controlled blood sugars and perfect HA1Cs before surgery and she was still getting peripheral neuropathy and other diabetes probs before her DS. She hasn't gotten slim from her DS yet but just getting rid of the diabetes has been life-changing.

HI Brok,
Just playing devils advocate here, but isnt it possible to regain with the DS as well due to the sleeve stretching over time? Isnt that what you tell us VSGers? Dont they have a board for DSers *****gain their weight due to poor compliance and ability to eat more due to large sleeve? Wouldnt that require another surgery too?? Just wondering...
