Skin fold issues
OK, today's topic is skin fold issues. Stop reading now if you don't want to hear TMI.
I know to document them for later plastics purposes, but can anyone offer good guidelines on how to treat 'em? I'm sure those of you who are farther along on your journeys have dealt with this and may have some good tips for others. I shower daily with an antibacterial soap, make sure I am dry before dressing, no longer use fragrant talc. I wear cotton under pants, with covered leg elastic - any spandex or nylon seems to aggravate the problem. Now that it is getting colder, I want to wear tights, but am concerned about making these issues worse.
I seem to get several different types of problems. I have found ways of treating with them, but am hoping for some better ideas. DH is getting very weary of "hey honey, come look at this." He is very squeamish and not much help, although he does try.
1. Zits/boils - I get the latter only occasionally, but the former are regular issues. I know I shouldn't, but I always want to pop them for relief, esp. if they are in a spot like under the bra band or waistband. They seem to take forever to heal.
2. Whiteheads - I've had these under my boobs even before I started losing weight. Not a huge problem, unless they develop into zits. I'd like to prevent them.
3. "crumbs" - I get this mostly in the panni area. I don't know if it is flaking skin, dried Desitin flakes or what. Years ago I had gyno surgery and have a huge bikini line scar, which is at the deepest part of the panni fold. Since I cant SEE this, I have to go by feel. Mostly I notice this at bedtime, and when I gently brush the crumbs away, the skin underneath is very tender.
4. chafing - I seem to remember someone (Kix?) recommending Desitin for this. Seems to work for me, but I could do w/o the fishy baby diaper smell of the ointment. And my co-workers wonder why I overdose on perfume...
5. Slimy yuck (saving the worst for last) - this smells and HURTS. I treat it with anti-fungal cream. What I hate most about this is how fast it can spread. I might be OK after my morning shower, but then I had to leave work at lunch to go get some cream - it hurts so much I can't think of anything else.
So those are my issues so far. Any tips to better manage this mess?

Hi there, i'm new here but just i'd throw a couple suggestions at you. Now i use the unscented baby creme from wal mart, i don't have kids so i don't want to smell like em. I was told that before some of the rashes and things start to use unscented deodorant in and around the skin folds. It helps the skin slide against each other and stop it from sweating. I used it all this summer all over my body and i never really had any rashes. I am pre-op but a lady i know who's lost over 300 pounds swears by these ideas. I know you already use the creme but maybe try the other but don't use it on sores or wow that stings. I hope others have more ideas for you.
Haven't had surgery yet so I feel that this is only going to get worse.
For the smell and yechhh and redness which sometimes even bleeds for me I use a powder mix of half cornstarch and half Dollar Tree equivalent to Bonds medicated powder.
This works great for me and I use an old fashioned powder puff to put it on. NO powder smell and is very drying.
Hope this helps you.

I used to use cornstarch, but now it just aggravates the problems, esp. if the outbreak is yeasty. I have the Gold Bond powder, but stopped using it because it hurts on the chafed areas. Have not tried mixing them. The powder puff is a good idea. I had just been sprinkling it in my hand and then tossing it near the area. The puff sounds like it would prevent over/under application.
Thanks for the ideas.
