I've read that WLS can make a rocky relationship worse and a strong relationship stronger.  I think there is some truth to this.  In your case it sounds like this guy has really been taking advantage of the whole situation letting you pay bills, not working, and then getting fired so soon after even getting a job.  He sounds like dead weight to me.  Who gives a heck if you are not housekeeper of the year.  That really isn't the issue here.  Being in a relationship and living together should be a 50-50 partnership with both of you sharing equal responsibility for bills and chores.  Furthermore, now that you know he has cheated on top of all that I'd say it's time to kick him to the curb.  You don't need proof to do that....you already know the truth and this joker is probably only going to deny it anyway (even if you show him the proof...he'll make up lies to cover his butt).  As for fears about paying the bills yourself (he was only ever contributing half the rent)....well, get a cheaper place if you can, get a roommate (someone you know and trust), do whatever it takes to not raise your son in an unhappy environment with someone that really is not treating you with the respect and love that you should be given.

Ooh!  I love Dooney & Bourke bags.....I have two.  Personally, I like the first one, but since I already have a similar one then I'd go with the hobo.  I think I heard somewhere that hobo bags are supposed to be "hot" this season.  I'm not much of a trendsetter, but back when I used to work I was quite a "bag lady" mainly because I was too fat to be much of a "clothes horse" IYKWIM.

I think the dietician requirement will depend on your insurance requirement and what your surgeon wants you to do.  Here's my story: In my case (like so many others) I've been waiting for this surgery for a long time.  Last year when I had Medicaid for a brief time and I met with a surgeon who wanted to do a lap band first and then go back in and do an RNY later.  Thank goodness that didn't happen cause I'd just prefer one surgery thank ya! So after I lost my Medicaid my chance at the above surgeries was shot (which is a good thing in retrospect).  I lost the Medicaid, because I got approved for disability (a good thing and sometimes you can keep Medicaid too, but in my case the amount I got from my disability put me over income to qualify), so anykind of WLS became a waiting game until I would have Medicare coverage. Knowing that Medicare only pays 80%, and that I don't have the funds to handle the other 20% of all the costs associated with this surgery, I decided that I would have to purchase a supplemental insurance policy once I became Medicare eligible in April to cover most of the rest. With research I learned that although Medicare will pretty much cover the surgery with no approval needed as long as you meet the criteria...however, the supplemental insurance might require proof of medically supervised diet, and psych eval as well.  So, instead of sitting around and waiting and waiting and waiting with nothing else to do, I decided to go to my PCP and see the clinic's dietician to start working on that medically supervised diet history.  Glad that I did, cause my BC/BS policy I ended up purchasing does require that (per my surgeon's assistant).  So that's my story!  Now I just can't wait to be on that loser's bench!

Thanks Sarah!!!  I'm obviovusly thrilled and I'm glad that being proactive paid off----although I must admit I did do a little whining...shhh don't tell anyone.   And as for my sister...she is just moping around right now, but she'll get over it....she knows that she'll be rid of me before long!  Not rid of me really, but you know...she won't have to do the things I can't do since my mobility is limited.  I really appreciate all she does and has done.  She deserves some kind of award or something.  I guess my love and adoration will have to do for now, but someday...I'm gonna make it up to her!  She really is the best little sister ever.  It's always been the two of us.  After our parents got divorced and our dad took off when we were kids, my mom had to take a job working as a telephone operator.  She worked the night shift so after school I was "mom" to the both of us....that really bonded us together.  Who would have ever thought she'd end up taking care of me though? Well - I'm just so happy to have a date and looking forward to getting my life and health back!!!

Topic: RE: I've got a date!!!!!
So, I just got a call from Donnette at Dr. B's office and she gave me the date of August 28th!!! I'm pencilled in pending my insurance required psych eval (June 11) and insurance approval, but Donnette looked at my file and says I meet the criteria and all that proactive work I did with my local dietician before my Medicare eligibility kicked in looks great!  So, she says there shouldn't be any reason Medicare Blue PPO (Wellmark BC/BS of South Dakota) won't approve me. Prayers, good vibes, chicken swinging---all appreciated in three areas: 1) My sister is kind of ticked at me that the date is so close to her fall classes starting back up (she's not really mad at me...but once again, my issues are impacting her life...for those who don't know she's my driver and care taker, which I know is not easy).  2) that everything goes well with insurance approval, and 3) that if there is a cancellation...I can get an earlier date (I asked Donnette to keep me in mind for that). I'm SOOOOOOOOOOO excited!!!!!!!!

I know what you mean.  Gee I even wonder about the seats...am I gonna fit?  Am I gonna get a nice nurse?  You know---actually now that I think about it what I had as described above I believe they call an echocardiogram.  The EKG, which I've had as well, is even less invasive really.  For that they just slap some of those little stick-on sensors on ya (if I remember it was on the chest and even down at my ankles that they placed them) then the little machine print out the info for them.  That time, I think I was even in my clothes....it was a long time ago though....back when I was getting on PhenFen.  Anyway, best wishes to ya.

Topic: RE: Is anyone watching Discovery Health ????????
Yes, my mom told me to watch, but I didn't see the very beginning.  They are talking about SMO at Andover Center in Ohio.  Pam and RJ are the two being focused on in this episode ---regarding food addiction. I don't think she had WLS, she came in at over 600 and they put her on their program of diet and exercise, and she got down 100 pounds.  She was able to get surgery for her panni - which is where they removed the 30+ lbs. RJ came in at well over 900 lbs, and lost almost a hundred I think, but then relapsed and gained most of it back (all still while he was there), then he got back on track and started losing again.  He also had lymphedema in both legs.  His was pretty bad.  He had some treatments though and that seemed to help. Interesting...it really struck me how much I have to be thankful for at this point in my journey.  I have lymphedema, but not as severe at this guy.  He had some severe sores on his leg and where his ankle should be because he was wearing shoes that really were too small to accomodate his ankle area.  I don't know how he could stand putting the shoe on and having it rub that sore.  Uggh!  I myself where birkenstock sandles (which I have come to hate), because I can't wear normal shoes anymore.  I can't wait to be able to actually wear close toed shoes in the winter time again (not that I go many places these days - but gee it will be nice when I'm able to be on the go again).

Topic: RE: Cardio visit?

A year ago January, I had an EKG (I think that is what it was called) as I was trying to get approved for WLS.  It was pretty simple: I changed into a gown, no bra, and then I got up on a table.  They had me hooked up to some censors, which was connected to a machine, there was just one tech in the room.  They put some goop on my chest and then took some kind of a thing (like what is used when you have an ultrasound) and moved it over my chest where my heart was and on the side to.  It didn't hurt, there wasn't much pressure or anything.  In fact, it was kind of interesting, I got to watch the monitor and the tech explained some of what he was seeing. Unfortunately, it's been over a year, so I imagine I'll have to do it all over again.  I wouldn't worry too much, you'll do fine.  Best wishes!

Hi Beckster!  Thanks for your response and prayers.  I am not sure exactly what will happen after the baby is born.  I think they will do a hysterectomy and give her radiation.  I know that it is treatable, but it is less of a chance of survival at this stage. She's having a boy by the way.  This will be her second child (her other son is almost 4); she definately has had some trials...a year after her first son was born she got pregnant, but miscarried a little girl.  Now the cancer and the problems with this pregnancy.  It is a sad, but the ending to this story has not been written yet.  I'm going to keep praying for them and claiming victory for them. I hope all is well with you.  Have you heard any more good news about your WLS?  Hope the paper route is going well, and that you're getting some rest too.  Also, do you know how Angela is doing?  I wrote her and she said her college age daughter (she doesn't look old enough to have one that age) was going to be visiting while her husband was gone.  Well see ya later and as always...best wishes & ((hugs)). ---Des
