Topic: RE: OT...surgical ???
This is not the first go-around with my feet. I had a double Z-bunionectomy (bone shaved, pins, rods to straighten toes) done and was the 6Th patient that the Dr. had done both feet at the same time in 22 yrs. of being a Dr. It was painful but I've had sooooo many surgeries worse than that; the upside is no more bunion pain. I honestly can't take the pain anymore, I wouldn't do this if I could live with it. I just can't anymore. I just turned 51 on the 21st and I'm like an 80 yr. old woman. I actually cry out in pain when I stand up...not particularly attractive or flattering if you know what I mean. It's the last resort. Thanks for replying.
Topic: RE: OT...surgical ???
I had my left knee replaced almost three years ago and the idiot doctor put in a "too large" replacement with the result that he broke my tibia. Long story short, need to have titanium plate and screws removed, well now my foot (same leg) is bone on bone due to osteo arthritis and needs to be fused. Has anyone had foot fusion? What is the pain level (I am a wuss about pain), recovery, etc.
On the up side, by the time I am in my 60's I should be 85% titanium and should last forever! Much to my kids dismay...lol.
Thanks....

Topic: RE: have the flu! What to take? (THAT WORKS!) Nyquil?
I'm sorry that you're sick but wanted to give you a "heads up". I had what I thought was the flu, 2 days of 102+ fever and feeling like I was road kill. Ok, Dr. gives me Tamiflu...on in a million get an allergic reaction...yes that would be me. I blew up like a balloon and couldn't breathe. This does NOT mean that everyone is allergic but it FINALLY TAUGHT me to check the warning labels on any drug that I take. It took about 22 days to get over whatever this crud was. I hope you feel better and are on the way to feeling well again.

Jill,
You are absolutely gorgeous and should feel that way. WoW! Lucky you that you look so great. My mixed breed rescue dog, Marley (Shar-Pei & ??) are having a race to see who has the most wrinkles...all's good. So far she's winning!
Be proud of yourself, you look beautiful...

I just read that Mr. Williams and his wife of 19 years have decided to divorce. She filed but there wasn't any explanation.
Topic: RE: Rice, rice, rice...PLEASE READ THIS
John Breen is a computer programmer that designed a site called www.FreeRice.com to help his son get ready to take the SAT and in addition he also came up with the following: He put 10,200 words definition challenges online and for each correct answer there is 20 grains of rice that will go the the UN World Food Program. It is funded by corporate advertising and so far has generated 20 BILLION grains of rice, enough to feed nearly a million people for a day! As for Breen he still can't get his son to study for the SAT but he is sure on one thing: "Ending hunger is doable. It's just a question of getting the word out." This was in the March 18th, 2008 People magazine under People Heroes among us, page 124. What an awsome idea - it's a win win situaion. The kids learn more words and in addition, they are helping someone survive. PLEASE pass this along to anyone who will listen to you... Topic: RE: OT~So Angry/Upset with my son
I can so relate to your situation. I have 3 kids, my oldest is 22 (daughter) and is graduating w/honors from the Conrad Hilton School in May (Who'd have thunk??); my son who is 18 and graduating high school in June. Well, my daughter knew at 17 what she wanted to do and what she refused to do for a living...my son? CLUELESS. All he knows is that he is going to college. All I can say is that if nothing else was done right, the fact that they ralize that they will benefit from having a college degree.
I think that if my son was doing what yours is doing, I would give him a timeline and let him float or sink. I have not walked in your shoes so I really don't know what it is like.
Let him fly on the "wings" that you, as a parent, taught him how to fly on...

Topic: RE: the dreaded loose skin
I was so not prepared for the skin thing that it came as quite a "suprise". Does human Shar-Pei, Boxer, etc. ring any bells ? I've lost approximately 140 lbs and have gone from size 3X to size 4 and my shirts were size 24/26 and now are XS. The difference is that I know how wonderful I feel (with clothes on)
but the naked thing is still hard to get used to. Oh, in 8 yrs. we get a raise as the last of our 3 kids finishes college and we will hopefully get some breathing room again!

Topic: RE: Palpitations, dizziness, tingling in mouth and extremities
Roberta,
I don't think that I have to worry about you not getting this tackled by a Dr. In fact, I know you'll have an answer by later this morning. I'm proud of you for taking things by the horns (at least I didn't use ya'll) and hopefully you can let us know how it all turned out.
Not to make light of you situation but, you know how terrifying the anxiety attack made you feel? That is how I wake up EVERY morning...the reasons my 22, 18 & 14 kids! The only comfort that I have, is the saying that my mother so lovingly left me "payback is a *****".
Let us know how you're doing, OK?

Susan
Topic: RE: Protein Balls
As soon as I feel like moving (all of 3 hrs. of sleep) I will make some using my new & greatest "love of my life", Muscle Milk, Mocha Latte which tastes so da** good. I think that my predator got my shaker mixed up or lost it.
Thanks for all the responses and I will report back with my rating on the tasting!

Topic: RE: I am officially ready to run away
I feel your "pain"....a 22 yr. old daughter who will graduate college in May, an 18 yr. old son (in LOVE), better be leaving for college in May! The last one...she'll be 14 on Sunday and should've been at the bus stop 5 minutes ago! I have to breathe, breathe & remember to keep breathing!
Oh, forgot to mention this lovely little tidbit...perimenopausal and turning 50 in April!!!! If you ever hear of a house imploding in Sugar Land, TX and they can not figure out what caused it...you'll know it was done by an overload of hormones and teen/middle aged angst! lol.
Hang in there....I'd love to say it gets better, but it must! I just keep hearing what to me would be a Horror Story...they move back! Plus a spouse & kid(s). Kill me now! lol.

Topic: RE: Post op from a total reversal of my gastric bypass
Sandy,
1st let me say how sorry I am that you had such an awful outcome. My heart goes out to you. That being said, PRIOR (5 years) to WLS I had my lower intestine wrap around itself due to scar tissue (3 c-sections & hysterectomy) in addition, when I went in for spinal surgery last June, they couldn't do the epidural due to scar tissue. I am glad that you posted this so that if I feel that HORRIBLE pain again, which put me on the floor (intestinal blockage), I will not hesitate to go to the ER.
Thanks for posting and take care of yourself.

You're not alone....even though my husband is in the house...I'm alone too. Just make the best of it; that's what I'm trying to do. I don't think that I'm even going to stay up till 12...
You are NOT ALONE! Happy New Year!

Topic: RE: Need Advice
Bonnie,
Just to err on the side of safety, if it were me and my doctor told me that he wanted me in the hospital...I'd go. Why are you refusing to go? I know that hospitals suck but vomiting blood is NOT NORMAL....please reconsider and then let us know how you are doing.

Topic: RE: Libido?? skinny vs fat sex! :)
My 1st thought was "Sure it is, just lift the skin so that the appropriate body parts can be located!".
Enjoy!
