Reduce screen time...
Increase activity time!

Screen time can include TV screens, computer monitors, and handheld on-the-go devices utilized for email, music and games.

Did you know? That children ages 8-18 spend the following approximate amounts of time in front of the screen, daily:

- 7.5 hours using entertainment media.

- 4.5 hours watching TV.

- 1.5 hours on the computer.

- 1+ hour playing video games.

Did you know? That more than 1/3 have computer and internet access, 1/2 have video game players, and more than 2/3 have TVs.

- Children with TVs in their rooms spend almost 1.5 hours or more a day watching television than children without a TV in their room.

A Special Opportunity to Get Involved in The 100 Mile Club®

OH Support Group Leader, Dan Benintendi is encouraging kids in The 100 Mile Club® to be fit! He also runs an OH Support Group, Post_Op_PRs, dedicated to exercise and fitness.

Check out Dan’s recent visit to Rosa Parks Elementary, where they have pledged their activity of getting in 100 miles by the end of the school year.

In October, Dan is participating in a 100-mile run from Corona, CA, to the Santa Monica Pier. From Dan’s OH message board post, “The cause is a tremendous one!!! I am involved with the 100 Mile Club, a program that challenges kids to walk or run 100 miles during the school year. There are 40,000 + kids involved, but the vision of this program is to spread to EVERY school in the United States. WE HAVE AN EPIDEMIC as a society, it's called 'Obesity', which is very near and dear to many if not all of us, and if we can target at-risk children in their youth, we may be able to save them from many of the heartaches and struggles we had to deal with as a result of our weight.
