Barring an open surgery or complications, Roslin will send you home on day 2 or 3.  He doesn't like people staying in the hospital any longer than they have to.

Complications:
3/2009:  Partial lung collapse and pneumonia after surgery.  Was in the hospital 7 days.
9/2010:  Emergency internal hernia repair at 10pm. Was supposed to go home the next morning but did not have adequate pain control so went home the following morning.

I have also had a very unusual instance of slow intestinal motility through my common channel and large intestine that developed about 9 months post op.  I battle debilitating constipation and abdominal pain and bloating.  Roslin and his associates say that I am the only DS'er they know of with this problem and don't attribute it to the surgery whatsoever.  They say it's just really bad IBS-C/colonic inertia.  So, it's tough to say if that was a complication from the DS or not.  The surgeons seem to think it isn't, but there's no way of knowing for sure.

Hi, Toni. I had my DS on a Monday and was discharged that Wednesday afternoon. So two nights.

FYI - my procedure was lap and I experienced no complications.

I'd be honored to be your Angel, if you don't mind having someone in Philly rather than NYC. Just let me know and I'll PM you all my contact info.

Just read your story and I see you're a revision.  Depending on your level of scarring around the stomach and esophagus, he may want to keep you a little longer to make sure you don't have any leaks.  And they will make sure you are able to get down 64 oz of fluids.
