This is completely not related to my WLS, but it is bothering me sooooo much and I need some advice on how to handle it.

There's a lady in my office, who I thought was a good friend of mine, who has suddenly been treating me badly.  This person acts as if she does everything for the "good" of the company and basically is 2-face and a kiss ass.

She recently told my boss that she does not know what I do all day and why I get paid what I do (she has been with the company for 25 years and is the highest paid employee.  I have been with the company for 13 years and I get paid almost the same as her.

There is so much more to this, but I don't want to go on and on about it.

My question is how should I handle this?  Should I just ignore her?  Should I confront her and ask her if she has a problem with me?

I am getting to the point that I hate coming to work.

Thanks for listening

Ignore her. Go to your boss and tell him that another employee seems to have issues with your work ethic. Ask if HE has a problem with you that needs to be addressed. Listen to whatever he says. Your job performance is between you and your boss and has nothing to do with the *****y lady. She is just another employee like you.

unfortunately there is one or more of "these" type of people in every job. they just are not happy unless they are making someone else's life miserable. i have a couple in my department and the best thing to do is ingore them in my opinion. try your very best (i know this is hard) to not let this woman have any control over your mood she isnt worth it. good luck :)

What if you ask her if she has a problem and she says yes?  What will you do?  Change?  Ignore her?  Ask her to step outside?

Who told you she said this to your boss?  I would wonder about the person relaying this information.

Sometimes you work with ********  Its just what it is. I would just keep on smiling, and do my deal.

If Suddenly this is happening, maybe something weird and wrong has happened with her?  Maybe she has some horrible stuff happening in her life and she just really is being a *****  Maybe ask her if she is okay, because you notice something seems different and you would like to help if you could?  (Unless you really do not and will not, then there is no point in being disingenuous, ya know)

But sometimes not everything that someone does towards us, has anything to do WITH us.  Its them, and you cannot fix something you did not break, ya know?

I am sorry though, I really am.  Its a ***** having work be an uncomfortable place to be.  :{

Thanks.  The information about what she told my boss came directly from my boss...

Well wow, that seems kind of inappropriate, unless you and your boss are besties and even then - well, I am not sure what word I am looking for other than inappropriate.

Anyway - I hope something happens/gets cleared up and/or stops.  Misery at work stinks.

Yeah, I too now from experience how sour a work place can become when you have to deal with negative and unproductive
jerks like your co-worker. There's no easy solution I know but try not to let it pull you away from your top priority-taking exquisite care with your health. Good luck!

Your boss sounds like she/he needs some training.  Way to make disharmony among employees.

I agree.

The boss should have asked the employee with the gripe for specific examples of how her coworker was creating problems for her directly and/or for the company.  If she could not provide any, she should have been shut down right then and there.  She was also out of line for bringing up another employee's salary.  Where I work, this is considered confidential information and a taboo subject.

I think unless you work in payroll its taboo for any place!  And double yes to the boss having been inappropriate, which was why I asked if they were best friends or something, but even then..

That boss person sounds very pot stirry.
