It's pretty normal how you are feeling. You may be suffering from depression, because we have always used food to self-medicate. Now that food is taken away from us as a coping mechanism, we have to find other things to replace it with.
I know it probably doesn't help to hear this - but it's actually a GOOD thing that you still don't like 95% of food. That means your sleeve is working!
Mourning the loss of food is an important part of our healing journey after the sleeve. I hope you can find a way to accept your new reality and start to see this is as freedom from food, and not just a loss of food!
Hugs,
Mel

You might want to get your fasting insulin levels checked. There may be metabolic reasons for the weight gain.
That said, it IS possible with our sleeves to gain weight if we are eating lots of easy-to-digest foods such as simple carbs and sugars. Also, it's really, really easy to gain weight with high calorie liquids. No matter what, you should completely restrict drinks with calories in them.
Hang in there! You still have your sleeve, and you CAN do this!!!
Hugs

Did you get a chance to get your fasting insulin and blood sugar levels tested?
You may benefit from an rx for Metformin.
I have a pretty useful document that covers dietary guidelines for after the sleeve. If you want a copy I can email it to you :) Just PM me with your email addy and I will send you a copy.
I hope you are holding on ok - you've worked SO hard.
Hugs,
Mel

I'm sorry you are stuck going through all this.
I don't really have any advise because everything in the freezing, cold north is so different. But from what I've read - my two cents (and that's probably what my opinion is worth!) is that unless the private sector job is one that you are really excited about and is one that you think you would grow personally in, I'd hold out for the other higher-paying state job, and then if you don't get that one, look more seriously at the private sector one.
But - wow - tough call! I think no matter what decision you make - it won't be a wrong decision.
Hugs!

I just thought I'd post some of a work-sheet we've used in our support group about emotional eating. It's tough, because we all use food to self-medicate.

a Look at the Feeling Wheel on the previous page (Sorry I can't past the pic) and choose the feeling that best describes what you were feeling when you were eating or wanting to ear and mark it down next to the food item you just ate or were craving.

Answer each question as honestly as you can. You can complete the worksheet in one sitting or take your time and answer one question a day.

Anyway - it's helped a few us! Great Post - as always! You are so wonderful!! And yes - you look DAMN GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Luck Hon! I hope everything goes as smoothly as mine did :)

One thing I would say is that we all need as much support as we can get! If you can help your friends and family understand why you've chosen a surgical solution, they may be more supportive than you think. Lots of folks are under the impression that wls is just experimental, or taking the easy way out. They don't understand that obesity is a disease and diets don't work for you.
Also, some people see your weight as a part of your identity and they love you now - so in a misguided attempt to support you, they try to discourage you from getting the help you need. Change is scary for everyone - even though it's your health and it's your body.
I think if you approach it as simply a health issue (for example, a woman with a bmi of 40 can expect to live over 20 years less than someone in a normal bmi range) then you give yourself the most power. After all - it's hard to argue with medical facts. Obesity kills. Surgery is relatively safe. Period.
I hope your friends and family surprise you and are supportive and kind!!

Mel

But everyday is a little different for me - some days I can eat way more and some days it's a field mouse's fair.
Our little jellybeans are tres weird!

I can't believe the difference in only 6 months - you should be SO damn proud of yourself!!!!!!
Woot! Woot!!!!!!!

What an inspiration you always are! (And gorgeous I might add!!)

Average weight loss for the sleeve is 10-20lbs your first month and 5-10lbs a month after that.
So - basically - you are KICKIN' it!!!!!! lol
Keep up the awesome work! What ever you are doing - keep doing it :)
xo

What a bunch of sweeties you are working with! And I bet you do look completely HOT too!!!!!!
xoxo

The research is pretty clear though, that the patients who maintain their weight loss the best weigh themselves once a day. This prevents you from regain where 5-10lbs just 'sneaks' back up on you.
Also, if you struggle to lose the weight, sometimes it can be due to hormonal issues or a miscalculation in caloric intake. If you don't have a clear idea of where you are at in terms of weight loss, than it can be harder to figure out when you have a problem and how to best deal with it.
That said - I think its smart during the early weight loss days not to obsess about the amount of weight lost!
Hugs,
Mel

Nice Work! You look like a completely different person - I'm not sure I would recognize you on the street!
Congratulations - you DESERVE this!!!!!!!

As long you are above that, you are doing amazingly!
Remember - the weight never comes off in a staight decline. It comes off in fits and starts. Lots one week nothing for a couple - that sort of thing. It's frustrating but completely normal.
You are doing great! Keep up what you are doing and you will be at goal before you know it!

It felt like a heavy lump in my chest, and eventually I would have to throw up. When I did, the food was clearly undigested. Eventually I became dehydrated.
They repair it by doing an endoscopy and dilating the stricture with a baloon. It's pretty simple, and I felt better right away.
In about 20% of cases the stricture needs more than one dilation.
