Be honest, the sleeve doesn't create surgically induced bullemia - right?

I am going to stop reading -  maybe even OH until after I have my surgery.  I am still scared chitless and lets face it, that feeling won't leave me - it is my nature in this area.  I just want to wake up sleeved and okay.

So the thing is I've been dancing with some of the darker tales of the sleeve.  There are a few ppl that run into trouble and tell it and should.

God, how to lay this out.  Back in the day when I had my band and experienced issues immediately, bandsters couldn't relate.  Their journey was perfect and I was the "odd ball".  Besides having mechanical issues immediately (shattered port, punctured hosing, then replacement), the issue for 2.5 years post-op I had no restriction at all.  The Band did not work at all - it was like I never had surgery except I could feel my port.  Third year we really started messing with teeny drops of fill.  I had odd restriction.  At night I would brush my teeth and tongue - still do, but  it would sort of allow this thickened saliva to come out of my pouch.  I wasn't vomiting, it wasn't forced but it somehow relieved me before bed.  I posted this on the LB forum because I never felt restriction before really and they dogged me, I mean talk about being ambushed.  NaBlowMe had a ball (I don't dislike alot of ppl, but I really can't stand her).  It turned out that my esphogas was dilated (WTF!) and just couldn't stand the pressure of the Band.

Anyways, all those Bandsters that were talking about me way back then - who all made themselves seem so perfect today, so many of them talk about how the band made them throw up constantly.  How they couldn't go anywhere without a barf bag etc.  I am the one who can't even relate to that complication of the band.  I kept loose and ate really healthy food when my band actually got in working order.

Okay, okay so I wonder if a sleeve can induce puking and you are just not saying so - only the whiners are saying so.  I don't wanna be a puker especially if I can never reverse my condition .

Sorry for such a winded post.

xo,
Leila

In the 5 months of being sleeved, I have NEVER puked!  Only dri-heaved twice and this was due to kidney stones.

I haven't thrown up.  Dietitian said that vomiting is almost always caused by either eating too fast or eating too much.  It's very rare that it's something beyond that.

I think you may need to take a break from reading.  You'll "what if" yourself to death!

With this bunch here (me included) that talk about all the stuff we talk about.. if our sleeves were causing constant puking- omg, would you hear about it.. just think of all the constipation posts!

I can say for me, the only two times I've puked- it was a multivitamin that did it- beware Centrum Women's Ultra is all I have to say about that.. other than that- I haven't even been nauseous!

Hey sweetie, i'm so sorry you had all those issues with the band.   I saw a thing on the news the other night that really shook me up,  they were discussing if the band is a good idea for teenagers  WTF?  hello  NO.   That being said,  to answer your question,  I am a year out tomorrow and have never thrown up, not once.   I did have dry heaves in the hospital right after surgery,  then one time i ate and forgot i ate and ate again ( i know i'm bad sometimes) and i got the foamies, but i've never done that again.   Some people experience nausea in the begginning but i think most of us do not.   You will love your sleeve   its truly a miracle  :o) jeani

Same here. Only some post-op dry-heaving from the anesthesia. Of those who have had some vomiting, I've noticed that it was usually an infrequent occurrence and that they had some issues with specific foods, ate too fast (and you don't need surgery to have that issue!), or other things like that.

I have never thrown up with the sleeve. I was a frequent vomiter with the band, but not because I kept it super tight and was abusing it. I had a type of complication with the band that would cause it to significantly vary in restriction from day to day. It would tighten up without a fill to the point where I could not even drink water.

But anyway, nope. No vomiting with the sleeve for me.

Best of luck,
Lindsey

Automatic tightening seems more & more common with the Band.  That is scarey stuff!

Thanks,  all the best to you too.
