This is WAY over the top!

You said you don't judge. Why did you even bother mentioning the homosexuality? By admitting that had you known, you would not have gone, you did just that. This had nothing to do with his profession.
Informing people of his sexual orientation is putting him down in front of others, which is also passing judgment. It is also inviting others to pass judgment on him.
I second EVERY word of this!! Give us the proof. Plain and simple. Who are these people you speak of??? How did you and you alone find them?? How did I not find them when I did my months and months of research??? If you want to show your credibility then back it up with something other than scare tactics and vague claims.

Not one of these 3 people with most of the negative posts has ever been to Dr. Almanza, yet they feel they have ALL the facts and statistics. They say they know the facts because they have some secret society which they have yet to share with the rest of us, on how to know which is truth and which are lies. Maybe they believe that their doctor is the only one that tells the truth? Here are my issues with your post. You say you have spoken to 12 people on this board that personally went to Dr. Almanza. All of which, you claim, had complications. I would like to know who they are. You don’t have to give us their names, just their screen names. There would be no privacy issue with that. If you are claiming this as fact, I would like to verify it. I would also like the screen names of the 12 patients of Drs. Joya, Pompa and Aceves too. Who, of the screen names, had the 3 leaks and which 2 had feeding tubes? I seriously wonder how you possibly reached only people with complications and not one single person that had a good experience. This seems impossible and suspect to me!
In one of your posts you stated,
“WHY ARE THERE SO MANY POSTINGS ABOUT BETANCOURTS CLINIC??? INFECTIONS??? LEAKS??? DIRTY RECOVERY CONDITIONS??? PEOPLE RETURNING HOME WITH PERFERATED BOWELS??? ON FEEDING TUBES???? SCHOOL CHILDREN PLAYING NURSE???? NO SERIAL NUMBERS OR BOXES GIVEN TO LAPBAND PATIENTS??? ect, ect,
I would like you to show me just 5 posts, by 5 different people, posting that THEY had a leak, a perforated bowel and a feeding tube and were refused a lap band box with a serial number. You state there are so many, that only 5 should be easy to come up with. As far as infections, yes there have been some. They also do more surgeries than any other doctor in Mexico, so they will probably have more infections too.
I don’t understand what you really mean about “school children playing nurse. Did someone ask a nurse to see her credentials? Did she refuse?
How do you know how many surgeries they do per day? Every day? I called my coordinator and posed these questions to her. She told me that if they do bands, they will often do many as 8 or 9. If they do sleeves they will do up to 5 at the most. If they do bypasses, they will do up to 4. If they go over that, they have a second surgeon that the patients are offered at the time they book their surgery.
Who told you they won’t give you the box that the band comes in? Who said they didn’t get a diet plan? I got one. You stated you didn’t get your entire deposit back. Who was your coordinator?
I think you stated in another post that one patient went in to surgery late in the evening because of another emergency surgery. I myself had this happen to me with a surgery I had in the U.S.! I had a hysterectomy and my surgeon had an emergency surgery which threw off his whole day! I didn’t get in to surgery until after 7:00 PM!
I also want to clarify. Are you saying that the other surgeons you mention almost never have complications? If you believe that, you are not very smart. I don’t believe that for a minute! My coordinator told me that Dr. Almanza and Jerusalem Hospital is the busiest bariatric center in all of Mexico and the U.S.! Did it occur to you that because he has so many patients that he might have more complications?
If there are 2 doctors, both being equal and they each have the same overall complication rate, then and if Dr. A has one complication for every 10 patients and he does 10 surgeries a month, and Dr. B does 100 surgeries a month, then Dr. B will have 10 patients with a complication every month. I’m NOT giving this as actual statistic for any doctor, just posing it as an example.
Someone also made the statement that Jerusalem Hospital is not a hospital. I saw the certificate on the wall. It is a hospital. The Mexican authorities said it is. Maybe in the U.S. it wouldn’t be any where near big enough, but it does meet all the standards in Mexico.
You seem to be on a vendetta to save the world from having surgery with Dr. Almanza. This sends up a red flag for me. The one thing that sends up the biggest red flag is that you claim to have done so many, many hours of research on this board, but you don’t know who Midwesterngirl is. It seems that you made it a point to act like you have never heard of her when she is all over this board and most definitely had a vendetta against Dr. Almanza. Many of your statements sound just like her. She told us of a post like this one that was to come just a few days ago.
Since you have spent so much time doing all this research and you want to show everyone that they shouldn’t go to this doctor, then I’m sure you won’t mind sharing your FINDINGS of PROOF with all of us.
Something smells fishy but I also live on the lake.
I thank all the people that post who have actually been there, done that... not back benches just causing crap.
Again... thanks for the post.

Everyone should know that FightingFat ***IS*** a coordinator for Betancourt/Almanza. Same person as Twinflames or whatever her other silly ID is. She's trying to save her business right now and doesn't care who you are, what you go through, she just wants your money.
Be aware, she is attempting to manipulate you.
I also agree, I would love to know why it is that I was unable to find "these people" while I researched for several months to find the right surgeon for me. I looked through this entire board as well as another popular one and NEVER read these horror stories. I read about a few infections....those people had no problems posting what happened to them. I'm sorry that it did. As is the entire staff. They never denied the claim, they simply found out what the problem was and fixed it!!!
When making my appointment I was also offered another surgeon, Dr. Ponce DeLeon because Dr. Almanza only has a "limited" amount of surgeries that he can do in one day.
I was personally there when a patient had a pinhole leak. An obviously experienced nurse found it as soon as the patient drank her liquid for the leak test. She was sent immediatiely back to surgery and Dr. Almanza fixed it. Yes, this did back his day up a bit, but wouldn't you want to have yours fixed immediately as well? I applaud the fact that the leak was found and tended to immediately before she returned home to the states.
I was also personally there after a patient had a lap band that his body rejected. Dr. Almanza went back in, removed the band and gave him a VSG. He is doing great now. He stayed at the recovery house for 11 days...they wanted to make sure that he was well before sending him home. All of this was done at NO extra cost to the patient. I can't imagine many surgeons doing this for someone. It was not Dr. Almanza's fault that his body could not handle the band, but the Dr. still fixed it. And by the way Dr. Bentacourt was not sitting there with his hand out waiting for more money for the additional surgical costs.
I have really tried to avoid posting to this thread because I don't want to get involved in this ridiculousness! But at this time I am truly offended by your statements and the fact that you have never seen this surgeon, nor have you told us about the 12 people you spoke to for as you say, "privacy reasons" I find that to be insane. If I had a problem like the people that you are talking about I would want to scream it off the rooftops, I wouldn't need to keep it PRIVATE!
So I will anxiously await to hear from these people you've spoke with. You may want to give them another call and let them know we're waiting....

O M G...you are a wack job!! Bettancourt followers??? Holly a coordinator??? Since when does anyone get flamed for posting a bad experience? No one flamed Suziemart did they?? No one questioned if she is telling the truth. She had some problems and wouldn't go back and wouldn't recommend them. I can respect that under her cir****tances and I feel bad that these things happened to her. Several people have posted about not being thrilled with the care at the house. Did anyone flame them??? No, their opinioins are respected and are helpful to others. I hope you really are going to do what you say and STAY THE HELL OFF OF HERE with your obvious craziness....we don't need it!!

I am clearly not a Betancourt follower;
I simply can find no fault with this man, or with Dr. Almanzas work. If there was any problem there, I would have made it known, as would have others on this board. We are here for each other! Holly is not a coordinator, and neither are any of the rest of us. We have found a good thing and want to share it with everyone! Why would we keep this to ourself, while people are dying of obesity, and Dr. Almanza has a cure that is within reach! Spending extra money to go to a different doctor in Mexico is any ones prerogative, but saving money by going to Dr. Almanza hasn't cost me- and the vast majority of the rest of his patients anything extra.
