Diligence is always required

Hey all - I'm an old timer I guess but wanted to give you all a heads up that if you don't choose to work your sleeve, then you can and will gain weight. I speak from personal experience!

Just a reminder to be diligent every day or at least most of the week so you accomplish your goal.  I know there are tons of VSG's that never gain and don't have issues with it and such, but I'm here to tell you it does happen for some of us!  I can eat anything and pretty much at any time.  There are times I feel fuller than others, there are so many times I'm not even hungry - in fact don't know if I've felt hunger in months - but the lightheaded feeling gets me eating.

I started my weight loss journey at 260 - had vsg at 218 and was down to 156 after PS (LBL, BL, Back Lipo).  I've allowed being unemployed to take my success from me for the last 4 months!

I'm up from my low of 156 to 180.8 this morning!  YIKES and my goal was 140...now I just want to get back to my low or 150ish...so 30 lbs must come off.  I'm hopeful and trying to get back on track.  Its not always junk food for me, its eating 2 dinners that gets me cause I'm bored!

I started yesterday, cutting back and out.  I did pretty well and we're on day two.  Two boiled eggs and coffee so far.  Must start on the water.  I know I can successfully get it off - but will it be before my 2 year anniversary 12/13/09???  Maybe not, but maybe.  And that's a motivator!

I even went out and bought a size 10 jean and new shirt Saturday just so I could go out with a friend and feel sexy.  Sad - I was in a 6/8 comfortably.  Clothes are not comfortable now...and I so notice the weight even though others say they don't.

Anyway, I just wanted to say, I fell and I'm getting back up and you can too if you're slacking!

I think that you have lost the confidence in your smile.  But you know what?  Bet it's back in no time!!  You have done an awesome job about being accountable, and made a good point to stay on track.  Even though you are feeling discouraged, your picture is a motivation to all of us just starting out.

Work it hard and I'll bet you make your goal!

Thanks for Posting. I am always looking forward to the Old timers post so that I can know what to expect- I am 10 months out and 7 pounds from my ultimate goal. A couple of months ago I was saying I don't know how people can gain weight because I am just not physically able to eat very much so it seemed impossible to me. Well now things have changed I do get hungry and more often so I find myself now eating more often grazing as they say so I really need to watch that. I just recently put on 5 lbs in one week and have gotten right back on the wagon and have taken off three of it but you are so right when you say you must work your sleeve. It is on going everyday. I find that I need to get myself on the scale everyday no matter what it says so that I can stop it before it gets to far out of hand. You look absolutely beautiful and I am sure that you will succeed in taking off the weight you want. Best wishes to you and thanks again for posting and being so honest. Cheers MO

Hi Danielle,

Acknowledgement is half the battle. You can do it. I stay here and post everyday for that very reason. Regain for me is not an option. Been there and done that with the band and it was the minute I got off the scales that killed me. And the fact that my band did not work. PM me and lets get together. OK??

Hugs,
Babs

Good Luck!!!

I just wanted to add that you are beautiful!  And that being unemployed is BRUTAL for weight gain!  I added much of my weight while on maternity leave (here in Canada we get one year of paid mat leave).  Being at home, I was too close to the fridge!!

I am sure now that you are on top of things,  you will lose the weight again.
And I second what others have said - weighing yourself every day is key.  Once you see  you are off, you can make adjustments.

Take care!  You look fantastic!

Thank you so much for sharing. Although I am only 7 months out I can see and understand how this can affect our lives. We seem to pick back up those back habits that got us heavy in the first place. I seem to have found a couple of pounds this week. So I am getting focus so that I can lose these last 50 pounds. It may take me a while but I don't want to go back to where I was.

Best of luck to you and this journey we call life.

Thanks for posting.
You look great.  You are so brave. I am pre-op. Only only talked to my Mum about this, this morning. I will have to work my sleeve forever.

The cool thing is that you CAN get back on track - set yourself a limit, like 10 lbs or less - once I hit that point in life then I need to get back to it - cutting back...I just didn't do it and at 24lbs it started scarring me!

You will have to work on it, but some people get really blessed and don't struggle nearly as much as I have!

Just keep talking about it, it helps!
