I've been sleeved! Ended up in I.C.U. though....

So I'm officially among the sleeved! It's been quite a journey though. My surgery ended up taking between 3 and 4 hours, most of that not even being my surgeon operating. I guess they had to bring in the throat specialist at the hospital because there was a problem with them trying to put the tube in. And if that's not enough, my surgeon had a problem with the stapler. Just great. I ended up having to stay in the ICU for the night. Drain, catheter, the works. It was so miserable in there.

The good thing is that within less than 24 hours, I really turned around. I'm not having any problem with the clear liquids. I still have my drain in though (yuck).

And unfortunately, I don't think I'm going to be one of those that loses their appetite completely after being sleeved. I was starving in the hospital while all they would give me is ice chips.

Anyway, here's hoping for a speedy recovery!

Oh crud - sorry for the complications. Glad you're rebounding. Some do feel "left over" residual hunger. I hope yours fades. Welcome to the losers bench. Keep us posted on how you're doing.

What a week you've had! Best of luck with your recovery and getting through the liquids-only phase.

Luckily my doc has you go to full liquids after leaving the hospital, so I'm hoping that'll be more satisfying than the clears.

While in ICU, all they gave me is ice chips. I was literally having pains from the hunger. It helped some when they finally gave me jello and broth, but only a bit.
