Any Protein Shakes/Drinks without milk ?
Ugh. I'm having a serious problem trying to figure out how to get in my protein without milk.
I have a bunch of different protein shakes, but they seem to require milk to taste non-nastificated.
I am lactose intolerant for the most part, and love soymilk, but even plain and light versions have too many carbs.
So can people help me come up with some protein shakes that DONT require milk? Especially the chocolate/vanilla kind, they always seem to need soy or milk and aren't "just add water".
I do have some non-milk-needed protein packets. Some I've tried, some are on the menu for the next few meals:
Unjury Strawberry
Unjury Chicken Soup
Isopure Alpine Punch
That's kind of all I have that don't require me to add soymilk and blow up my carbs.
Any suggestions?
And thanks for your previous help, guys. I started my liquid pre-op diet this week at 234 and now I'm 224 !
Of course I was bloated the first day and most of this is due to my cycle being over, but this liquid diet is hard as hell so I'm claiming credit for all 10 lbs of those so http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/biggrin.gif

I use the Syntrax Chocolate Truffle without milk. I was using unsweetened almond milk (much less carby than real milk, and same good mouth feel to me) but I use it with water now and save the 40 calories for something else!
Its good when later you can have caffeine I put a little scooper of instant coffee in there, or make with real coffee (cooled) instead of water. I also use with water and put 1/2 tsp of the vanilla, butter, nut flavoring (like you would use for pound cake?) for a creamy delicious choconutty shake!!
I also *highly* recommend getting a magic bullety thing if you dont already have one. I got thru full liquids without all the carby cream soups by making meat N broth in the crock pot and then purreeing the meat and adding to the broth for a thicker broth. I will give you my most delicous beefy broth recipe if you like! :}
The pre liquid diet is definitely a huge challenge. Days 3/4 were the worst for me in my mind - but after that, eazy breezy.
You are rocking it baby!! Good job, you!
Oh - edit to add - my husband gets the chocolate and chocolate mint Amplify smoothie from GNC and that is fine without milk too.
If you can get new cannisters of protein powder from GNC and from a local Vitamin Shoppe (if you have one) SAVE THE RECIEPTS, and if you dont like the taste, you can take it back for store credit. That has served me well!
Good luck again, babygirl!!

Goooood list!
I'm gonna acquire me a Magic Bullet now thanks
and yeah, I could use that soup recipe!
I looove soup.
I think that's what's gonna get me through this whole first two phases, honestly.
I made french onion soup that lasted me two days for some variety, and had some miso soup yesterday.
I also kind of like soup because it seems to get rid of that gross "protein taste" in my mouth.

Okay! Branni Beefy Boullion!
In the crockpot
I used beef stew, but you could use a big ol steak, whatever, just make it lean
1/2 head of celery (I leave in whole stalks, so I can freeze and use later when I want/need)
1 large red onion (just prefer the reds - I cut into quarters, so they are large pieces for, again, the freezing)
1 whole head of garlic (leave whole, just rub extra paper off - and again - after you cook with it, you can freeze it for later, or use it and squeeze out separate cloves that are all beefy roasted goodness!)
6-10 whole Allspice pimentos
*optional 1 packet of au jus flavoring
So, toss all of that into the corck, and fill to the rim with water. Cook on low all night or all day. You can use the strained broth alone for clears (I also make this with smoked turkey legs the same way) and freeze the meat, and veggies separately. or, when its time for fulls - if you put the 2 ounces of maet in the magic bullet (dry not with juice yet) and then use the standy uppy grinder blade, it will chop it up into small chunks - then add a little bit of water, and whirrwhirr and it will make it a paste, then I add a little more water in and whirwhirwhir for good measure, then put it in the broth for fulls.
I was tracking everything from when I got home, and even while we ought not be so focused on carbs and whantot during the fulls, I was trying to make sure that I was weaned off the carbiness by the time I went to regular foods. Just a personal thing. The soup helped a lot!
