NJ Support Group listing - as of January 2011

Hey gang,

 

One of the frequently asked questions is where to find a support group? I am trying to go over past postings, to come up with a list of support groups and when they meet. Eventually I would like to post a listing of all support groups through out our fine state - this way it would be convenient for everyone.

 

That’s why I need your help. Can you please tell me which support groups you know of, location, the day and/or time the classes are held, if they are open to “everyone" or to just patience’s of specific doctors, free or fee, County, contact information?

Weight Loss Surgery Support Group I - meet the second Wednesday of every month, 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and is for patients who have had bariatric surgery less than one year ago.

 

Gastric Band Surgery Support Group meet the third Wednesday of every month, 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Weight Loss Surgery Support Group II - meet the fourth Wednesday of every month, 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and is for patients who have had bariatric surgery more than one year ago.

Mehta Bariatric Center (in New Brunswick) meeting is the 1st Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. It's free and open to everyone, and is peer to peer until the last half hour where medical questions can get answered.

Wegmens Support Group (in Woodbridge)

Meets every Monday except the 1^st Monday of the month. It’s an informal group where they  talk about what is going on and try to help each other. All WLS patients welcomed

Dr is no longer employed here. We are the JFK For Life, Metabolic and Surgical Weight Loss Program. Our medical director is Dr. Alexander Abkin. Our support group DOES meet the 3rd Thursday of every month from 5:30 - 7pm. We are located at 1200 Park Avenue, Plainfied. We are across the parking lot from the Muhlenberg School of Nursing.
