We're excited to share some updates that we've been working on! Many of the updates we're implementing are to help address some of the issues that have been reported to us about mobile experience. Please check out the images below for a few site changes that will be heading your way very soon. We anticipate launching these updates Tuesday evening. If you run into any issues after we launch, please let us know by filling out this form.
+ QUICK ADD: We replaced the Omni Box Icons with a mobile friendly + Quick Add button. This change helps with better placement and access on mobile. You will now add new blog posts, upload photos, log your weight, add a goal and write a review through the pink + Quick Add button.
SEARCH BAR: We have removed the magnifying glass search icon in the site header and replaced it with a more prominent search bar. We've also expanded the search capabilities by combining Site Search, Find A Provider, and Find a Product all into one search bar.
NOTIFICATIONS: We have added some new functionality to the notifications area. With one click, you can now mark all of your notifications as read. With the settings icon, you can get to your notification settings more quickly. Individual notifications can be marked as read, unread or even deleted!
ADDITIONAL UPDATES:
- In your settings, we have added two handy links, one to your profile and one to manage your tickers.
- Ticker interface has been updated (functions the same).
- Navigation menus have also been updated.
As you check out OH, you'll see many features and tools that are created for our members as you embark on your WLS journey. Be sure and take the video tour of the site. You can access this by clicking your profile, * in upper right hand corner, replay tour.
We suggest you upload your avatar, fill in your surgery type, date and surgeon. If you have not done so, let us get to know you by adding some information on your profile "about me" section. Hang out on your surgery type forum to interact with those that had the surgery you are going to have. Great support and information.
As with all internet families we are made of different personalities, life, and bariatric experiences. ObesityHelp is not heavy handed with moderation. We look to our community to share, engage, debate and support each other. If someone violates the Terms of Services we do step in from time to time.
UPLOADING YOUR AVATAR
Go to your profile and click the box where your avatar displays and upload to add your avatar.
Hang out on your surgery type forum and meet those that are right there with you. Great support and information!

You can now see notifications right from the OH header, by clicking the ‘Bell’ icon.

Notifications are updated to look prettier

Automatic “mark read” - you don’t have to manually mark them anymore!

Mobile friendly - works just as well on your phone screen
- By default, you will also receive emails when they get new notifications. The emails are made prettier and also contain a link to the preferences page to unsubscribe
5. Notification system integration for Messageboards

When a member replies to your post in the messageboards, it now triggers a direct notification in the OH notification system that you can see from the header.

The header notification contains the name of the thread and a preview of both your post and the reply.

The notification is clickable - it takes you to the post

The email will now get sent by the Notification system.
* If you have unsubscribed from notification emails, you WILL NOT get notified by email when an MB reply comes in.
* To access this option click the “person” icon to the far right
* Settings

* Check the box for Email from ObesityHelp Members
* Save
6. Photo “Like” system (the little hearts) will also trigger notifications, and if opted in, emails.
A launch with some exciting updates was made last night. Our IT team is aware of the glitches and working on them right now.
Some of the bugs you may experience are:
- An "Internal Server Error"
- "Recent Posts" on message boards not loading correctly
- Other message board issues including your Settings have issues

'Twas the night before surgery,
when all through my gut
not a morsel was stirring,
not even a nut.
The suitcase was packed by the back door with care,
in hopes that a new me would soon return there.
I lay nestled, snug in my bed
while visions of calories danced in my head;
and me in my plus size pajamas and wrap,
had just settled in for a long, restless nap.
When deep in my mind there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my dreams to see what was the matter.
Away to my fridge I flew like a flash,
ripped open the door and drooled at the stash.
The moonlight reflecting off the beautiful snacks
gave a luster of radiance to all on the racks.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
but an array of the comfort foods I hold so dear.
With a familiar feeling of all those I'd pick,
I thought in a moment I just might be sick.
More lovely than angels their voices they came,
and they whistled and shouted and called me by name;
"Now pizza, now French fries, now chocolate galore
on cheesecake, on ice cream, on donuts and more!"
From the tip of my tongue,
to the end of my toe,
I will miss you all more than ever you'll know.
As an addict that shakes and stirs as he sits,
I'll mourn the loss of my delectable hits.
So back to my bed I went with great haste,
and settled back down with nary a taste.
And then in an instant,
in pre-op I sat,
nervously waiting to no longer be fat.
As I sat deep in thought and adjusted my gown,
In came my surgeon in one single bound.
He was dressed all in scrubs,
from his head to his feet
and he seemed very calm as he eyed me like meat.
He looked at my chart,
with his scope gave a listen,
I don't think he noticed my eyes starting to glisten.
He was chubby and plump -- he could lose some himself,
and I laughed when I saw him in spite of myself.
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.
He spoke barely a word as he prepped for his work,
he paused for a moment,
then turned with a jerk.
And laying a finger aside of his face,
and giving a nod, out of the room he did race.
He checked in the next day,
to his students gave a whistle,
and away they all flew like a down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim as he walked out of sight,
"speedy thinness to you and a healthier life!"
