I'm back! All went well

Good Afternoon Everyone ,

Sorry for the delay, but I didn't bring my laptop to NYC with me, and my Blackberry doesn't let me post on OH for some reason.

Anyway, revision from RNY to DS with Dr Roslin  on June 7th went smoothly.  I had gotten a lot of anxiety because I had to be at Lenox Hill at 8:30 am for 10:30 surgery, and surgery didn't actually begin until after 1pm.  They were running very behind schedule that day.  Surgery took close to 6 hours, but Dr Roslin said everything went perfect.

After I woke up in recovery I had the worst nausea I have ever had in my life.  I didn't even feel surgery pain because the nausea was so damn bad.  But the next morning the nausea was gone and  the pain kicked in.  This pain was FAR worst than when I had RNY.  But I was trooper.  Up, and moving around and sitting up in chair as long as I could without getting in bed.  I found after day 3 sitting in the chair was sooo comfortable for me.   I was discharged yesterday afternoon (6/11).   I've gotta tell ya, those 3 days not being able to drink was absolute torture.  I have a new respect for water now.  After my upper GI Dr Roslin came into the xray room and said "You are doing fantastic sweetheart!".  He was called down to the xray room because they tech didn't really understand what he was looking at.  Didn't understand the anatomy of a rny to ds conversion. So Dr Roslin had to come down and school him.

The 3 hour drive back to Albany was rough because I had to pee every 30 minutes, and I have having loose bowel movements.  I also was so anxious to get the hell out of there to get home and see my 2 year old baby boy, that I didn't ask for pain meds. So by the time I got home I was just too through.   I got a decent nights sleep. Being in MY bed, I wanted to sleep in positions that I know I am comfortable in, but couldn't because of the pain.  In a hospital bed you go knowing you aren't going to be comfortable.  The pain meds make me have either really weird dreams, or nightmares.  My first night in the hospital taking pain pills by mouth I woke up sweating and breathing heavy and almost in tears due a nightmare.  I was a hot mess I tell ya.

I am doing good with my liquids and vitamins though, and this protein shake by Atkins is yummy for my tummy.

So overall I am doing well, and thank you everyone that was asking about me in my absence.
Nothing feels better than being able to go into ANY store and fit their clothes!

Congratulations on being home! I had my virgin DS the day after you, 6/8. I had those weird and disturbing nightmares too, but I had them the first night after surgery when I was on Morphine. I forgot about that until you mentioned it. And yes, the hospital bed was UNCOMFORTABLE! Enjoy your 2 year old and sleeping in your own bed!

Glad to hear everything is going well Shavonne! May you have a quicker than speedy recovery! I know I will miss my daughters when I have my surgery. I was only away from them for a day when I had my lapband surgery.

Good luck and glad you're home safely!

Hi

Welcome back and congrats.  Frankie was looking for you on the revision forum so when you get a chance you might want to hit her up.  I can not wait until its my turn with Dr Roslin.
