One Year Post-Op Visit Tomorrow - Questions?

Hi.  I Had my DS on June 1, 2010.  My official one-year post-op visit is tomorrow.  I was wondering if there are any good questions I need to ask.

I am expecting a really boring and disappointing group session as they always concentrate on RNY and lapband.

The only issues I feel that I have are this huge hernia, and I worry that I don't get enough protein through eating only and I HATE shakes!

Well, eating Brok's Pizza tonight with hamburger and pepperoni!  YUM!

Let me know if ya'll have any good suggestions!

Will they go over your labs? That was the highlight of my 1 year visit.

I prefer to have my labs done there, cause it is so convenient and the lab tech is soooo nice.  I will not have the results back, but Sudan's nurse is always very available to answer any of my questions.  Thanks .

KaylaB's Shake Cake.  My version 23 protein/ 7 carbs.

I would take a book to read during the group.

Congrats on your year!!

Good Idea Becky!  What about if I just text all my friends and look very UN interested?

Oh, and can you share your recipe?  I just saw a post on OH about it, but the only Davinci syrup I have is coconut.  Thinking that would work.  What do you think?  Of course I will have to go out and buy some protein powder as all I have in the house is plain yuck!

I think Lisey linked you to Kayla's original recipe.  My version:

1 scoop Champion Pure Whey chocolate (3 carbs 24 protein)
1 T dark cocoa (but I also used reg. cocoa) (4 carbs)
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 T vanilla extract
3 T oil (I just used what I had which was plain veg.oil.  I started with 1 T and upped and upped it.  I NEED the oil so that is why I use so much)
about 3 T of splenda (to taste)
water to make a thin batter (but no****ery)
Mix well and taste the batter.
Nuke for 35 seconds.

You just have to play with it until you find what works best for you.  My first attempt was way too dry.  My second was too watery.  But now I can throw it together in 2 seconds and it is great.

So my version has 7 carbs plus whatever I top it with.  I use carbsmart ice cream, or Redi-whip, or SF frosting or nothing.

Enjoy!!

Kayla recommended a 16 oz ramiken (sp?).  I use big soup/chili bowls.  Her original post should have a photo.
