Well, I think only people who have had the very significant complications that you have had, Lorilee.  Most people are eating pretty well after four months.   Have you been following up with Dr. Husted on your stricture?   I hope so, because you should be getting in much more than 32 oz of fluids and three shakes.   Does he know that this is all you are taking in?

I am so sorry you're struggling. What does your doctor say or recommend? I'm 3+ months out and can eat some things but not others....like most dense proteins.

I know other experienced vets will have excellent advice. First of all, though, you must increase your fluid intake. Are you taking vitamins?

I hope you will let us know what the doc says on Monday.  I think you need to be very clear about the amount of fluids you are/aren't able to get in.  Is your pee dark?  You must feel terrible.  I'll be thinking of you.

Lorilee, if you are giving a complete picture of the care you've been getting, I'm going to be the bad guy and tell you that YOU ARE GETTING HORRIBLE ****TY INADEQUATE TREATMENT. It is time for you to be on TPN and get some REAL INTERVENTION in this, instead of getting led on by your surgeon.

I realize you want to trust him, but his track record SUCKS. Please, get new and better medical care on board NOW and get more aggressive about saving your life.

I am going to second what EN said!  You are getting crappy care and need to get help soon, before it is too late!

Every time I hear something about Husted in the last couple of years, it gets worse and worse (in my OPINION, of course!).

I know you PAID him to do your post-op care, but it sure sounds like he isn't doing it.  In my opinion, it is time to get yourself to another doctor and get some actual help before you are too malnourished to be a candidate for whatever revision surgery you might need.  If you are telling the truth in what you said above (and I have no reason to doubt you), it is possible you are a(nother) victim of malpractice if Husted is not taking this seriously.

And then, when you are well, consider joining the crowd of people who are suing Husted.

I would suggest contacting Dr. Keshishian or Dr. Rabkin if you can.

I am seconding... er thirding EN! I think you are getting screwed. Time to start finding someone to help you if Husted won't. Don't wait for someone else to tell you how you should feel. NO this isn't NORMAL. you need help.
