Dr. Shapiro is a leading bariatric psychologist in San Diego and she has performed hundreds of pre-bariatric psychological evaluations. She specializes in Eating Disorders and Obesity, is passionate about people who struggle with their weight, and her entire practice is devoted to disordered eating and obesity. She has trained at the most esteemed obesity centers including Duke University’s Weight Loss Surgery Center, Duke University Eating Disorder Program, Structure House LLC, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Eating Disorder Program. Dr. Shapiro will not just conduct an evaluation. You have put a lot of time, thought, and money into this surgery and you want the evaluation performed by a clinician who thoroughly understands bariatric surgery. Dr. Shapiro is compassionate about the daily battles and struggles (emotionally, physically, psychologically, etc) surrounding obesity. In addition to the evaluation required by insurance companies and surgeons, Dr. Shapiro will offer education and behavior modification tips unique to your own needs to better prepare you for success. Dr. Shapiro will offer you an appointment typically within 1-2 weeks of your phone call and your report will be on your surgeon’s desk within 7 days of your evaluation. Dr. Shapiro’s office is located on the first floor of a professional office with comfortable bariatric seating. Dr. Shapiro is available for pre and post weight loss surgery support, therapy, and/or behavior modification, as well as brief phone counseling.
