Dr. Piotr Gorecki, Bariatric Surgeon

Piotr Gorecki, MD, FACS, FASMBS is a board-certified surgeon specializing in the treatment of morbid obesity with advanced minimally invasive bariatric surgery. He serves as the Director of Bariatric Surgery, Chief of Laparoscopic Surgery, and the Clerkship Director of the Medical Student Program at New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. He is also the Associate Professor of Clinical Surgery at Weill Medical College of Cornell University and the Medical Director of Brooklyn Center for Advanced Laparoscopy.

He earned his medical degree from Nicolaus Copernicus Academy of Medicine in Krakow, Poland where he also completed his internship. He then fulfilled his general surgery residency at the New York Methodist Hospital and his fellowship in advanced laparoscopic surgery at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. He has also participated in specialized training in bariatric surgery, laparoscopy, advanced endoscopy, and robotic surgery.

Dr. Gorecki is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (FASMBS). He is a member of the Society of the American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, the Priestley Society at Mayo Clinic, the Mayo Alumni Association, the Surgical Infection Society, the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, the Society of Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, the Brooklyn Surgical Society, the New York Surgical Society, and the International Pediatric Endosurgery Group.
