    Dr. George S. Ferzli, MD, FACS, stands as a Clinical Professor of Surgery at NYU Grossman School of Medicine and is also the Director of Advanced GI, MIS, and Bariatrics Fellowship Program at NYU Langone. Since 1995, this distinguished program has graduated 36 laparoscopic fellows under his guidance. Moreover, Dr. Ferzli serves as the Medical Director of the MBSAQIP (Accredited Center of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and Quality Improvement) at NYU Langone Health – Brooklyn, showcasing his commitment to advancing surgical excellence.

    With over 44 years of experience in the medical field, Dr. Ferzli also previously held the positions of Chairman of Surgery at Lutheran Medical Center (now NYU Langone), Professor of Surgery at SUNY Downstate Health Science Center, and Chief MIS fellowship at SUNY Downstate and Staten Island University Hospital, among other leadership positions in the medical community.

    Inspired by his father's dedication to the education of surgery, Dr. Ferzli has made a profound impact on the global medical field. His expertise has been shared through lectures and surgeries conducted in over 30 countries and 60 cities worldwide across hospitals, universities, and medical schools.

    Education and Accolades

    Dr. Ferzli earned his Medical Degree from St. Joseph University School of Medicine in Beirut, Lebanon, and completed his general surgery residency at Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell at Staten Island University Hospital. He holds Diplomate status with both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Surgical Critical Care. Additionally, he is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), fellow of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (FASMBS), and holds memberships in several prestigious professional societies, including the American Medical Association (AMA), the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), the European Association of Endoscopic Surgery (EAES) and the International Surgical Society (ISS), among others.

    He has served as an editorial board member and peer reviewer for several scientific surgical journals.

    Beyond his academic and professional accolades, Dr. Ferzli is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, Castle Connolly Top Doctor, and the Teacher of the Year Award. His commitment to excellence in patient care has earned him recognition as one of the Best Doctors in New York by New York Magazine countless times, among other honors.
