Dr. Ernesto Garza, Bariatric Surgeon Ernesto Garza, Jr., MD, FACS practices bariatric surgery and general surgery at Valley Care Clinics Weight Loss Surgery Center in Mcallen, Texas. He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin Medical School and attended the University of Texas Medical Branch. He completed his surgical training at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, well-known for patient care, medical training and research. Dr. Garza is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery (ABS), a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS),  and is a proud member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). Dr. Garza specializes in advanced laparoscopic procedures including weight loss surgery, general surgery, endoscopy, and surgical oncology. His research on laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery has been published in The American Journal of Surgery.
